sorry to hijack thread...what exactly are the different stages when turboing? 1=no intercooler? 2=side mount? 3=front mount?

USED TO HAVE...Everything you wish you had, and then some...

You are somebody special Tim, you matter! - from the admins (but nobody likes you, because your username is just like that other guy's, and you whine a lot)

Stage 3 I believe you can still use a side mount. The upgrade for stage 3 is the internals.

I'm at stage 2 runing a max of 8psi and run it with stock injectors..but I would say that is the max you should do. at those numbers you are pretty much maxing out the fuel pupm and injector capacity.

You might want to upgrade your injectors at stage 1, but in my opinion- definitely by stage 2. Stage 2 is so close to the max specs for all the fuel components that if ANYTHING goes wrong or out of spec by a few %, you blow a $2000 motor. 30lb injectors cost under $100 on ebay. That's not only good insurance, but a great upgrade for the money.

At stage 3 and above, while not "required", you'd be insane not to be running at least 440's. Believe me, when you have thousand dollar forged internals, you won't stay at 8psi for long. Remember that at the same boost levels, the 4g63 guys with the same size engine and turbo are looking into 660's and higher at that point!

For the record, HRC has completely disagreed with me on this, and they know a lot more than I ever will. But... of course I completely disagree with them too.

stage one, is no intercooler, which is just dumb, stage 2 has either SMIC or 400 bucks more for FMIC. Stage 2 will be fine w/ stock injetors, stage 3, is rebuild, clutch, and injetors... major money..

I was unable to run 8 psi on my stock injectors. I had to run 5 psi until I put the 415's in. I bet that if I had not had a rebuilt block I would have killed it because my injectors were maxed out at 5 psi and I was trying to run 8 psi. I say get the injectors soon, but you better have a way to turn them down. (safc, FPR, something)

Im my opinion, the injectors should be replaced, even in stage 1 (5 psi boost). Although you can get away with boosting in stage trim with stock injectors, you are really working the injectors towards its max duty. If money isn't an obstacle, I'd upgrade to bigger injectors and a good adjustable FMU. The size of the injectors will depend on your goals.

icedout, since the acell 30ibs are only sold in sets of 8 I'll go half and half with you, so let me know. The only thing that is stopping me from going to a full stage 3 is injectors upgrade, other than that I have rebuilt engine and CM stage 4.
