theres a lot of different kinds on ebay, some universal, mallory, B&M, AEM, plus ones for specific cars.
My questions are: do we (420a's) need a specific one? Will a universal work? And will one for a specifc car (acura, etc.) also work for us?

Major things to worry about:
Is it the right ratio? (1:1, 5:1, 12:1)
Does it read vacuum/boost? (some don't read manifold pressure)
Can it handle high pressures? (fuel injection FPRs handle much higher pressures than carburetted FPRs)
Will it hold its settings? (Others experience helps here)

I've use the stock FPR, Cartech, Extreme, Vortech, and Aeromotive. I only had favorable results with Vortech and Aeromotive.

Thanks corbin. Also and more importantly, what is the "correct" ratio for running an after market system. I see all kinds of 1:1, 12:1, etc.
How do i know what i need?

depends on what size injectors you plan on using... for corbin's 8 injector setup, most people use the aeromotive 1:1 regulator. i have the HRC 415 cc/min injectors and will plan on running the 3:1 disc with the vortech regulator after i rebuild. for stock injectors, i believe that you will want the 12:1 rising rate, but i'm not 100% sure of that number.
