I just read the ERT threads and the idea of a 2.5 has been on my mind from day one of turbo. I just got the email to this site. I guess they are also on this mod. Anyone know about them? And without war, how they compare to the rest? TIA.

these down pipes are made by kooks custom header look to be great parts... the poor guy that had all 10 or so made up got flamed horribly when he posted about them there is a thread in the forsale section from like a week ago about it...

the ert dp overall i think is better since its cc coated well from james it is. plus ert price is great, and there are various members who have seen ert etc and dealt with them. you can also get a custom 2.5" dp for the hrc kit made at certain places who want to make one for you. the other dp for the hrc kit ^^^ is talking about is not cc coated but overall both are great dp's

There are two downpipes one made by Team ERT and one made by Michael Maffuccio through Kooks Custom Headers.

Downpipe #1

Here is a description of the Team ERT downpipe taken directly from their website (They used to have pictures on their website but now they are gone. I am assuming it is due to the testing that Matt (XTREMERS) did this past weekend. Since the pipe didn't fit correctly and was redesigned, they probably need to be updated):

ERT / HRC© Downpipe- Designed for the 1995-1999 Hahn Racecraft© turbosystem equipped vehicles (exc the Neon) This pipe completes the connection from the turbo exhaust outlet to the cat. It features a 2 piece design that allows you to remove the turbo without having to unblot half you exhaust system. The piping is 2.5" mandrel bent and ceramic coated. The piping carries ERT's lifetime warranty against defects along with a 3 year warranty on the coating.


Downpipe #2

The second downpipe is designed by Mike. I have been talking to Mike, through both email and on the phone, ever since his first post and I will be buying one. We have been emailing back in forth with status updates. From the last time we talked, he will begin shipping them approximately this Wednesday. Both pipes are the same price - $250 - and you also have choice of coating (ceramic or aluminum). Here's his post:

I am now taking orders on the Downpipe. This Downpipe will fit a 95-99 Eclipse or Talon with a 420a engine and a Hahnracecraft Turbo Kit. They are 2 piece 2.5" 16 Gauge Aluminized (aluminum coating) steel made by Kooks Custom Headers. The DP's are very easy to remove even the bottom bolt on the top flange. They will be available with a 2.25" (Stock) or 2.5" Flange at the cat. Spool up and boost is improved by this dp and fit and finish is amazing. The price has gone down because I am having more made. Ceramic coating or aluminum coating is available. $250. plus shipping is the price for a 2.5" Mandrel Bent Aluminized Downpipe with lazer cut bracket, stainless steel flex section, and either 2.25" or 2.5" at the Cat. All gaskets are included with a very durable graphite gasket for the top flange.


Both pipes look very good and it is your choice on which one you would like to buy - anything has got to be better than the clamp design and the annoying third bolt. I'll be able to post more comments on what I think about Mike's downpipe once I get it.
