I think thats a bad idea, especially if you have a turbo on your car. The reasons I say this are because: 1. Gettin oil splashed onto the base of the pistons helps to cool them down. This is very very important in cars with forced induction (i.e. thats why stock turbo'd cars come with oil squirters). 2. Our cranks come from the factory knife-edged. Obviously its not butcher style, but enough to push through the oil just fine without disturbing it excessively. 3. Most of the power that is lost by this is from the crank pushing through the oil. That plate will deflect oil that is getting splashed up, thus causing the average level of oil in the pan to rise (less at the piston bases and in the air). The increased level of oil in the pan will cause the crank to have to displace more oil with each revolution, thus actually causing more drag than normal. I really dont see any advantages to this... If someone does, please enlighten me

not here to "enlighten" any one just passing on that this had nbeen previously posted. the reply was that this has been arround for some time. used by the O.G. drag cars. My comment on this is that those cars were just that...meant to run every so often... not daily. Also, they were big v-8's , different then our cars and there fore relatively easy for the garage racer to break down and fix/maintain everything.
