I plan on turboing my car, and I really do know quite a bit about turbos and how they work. But I really just know the basic stuff. I want to learn more so I can turbo my car the right way. What would be a good place to find this info?

Also, is there anyone here from northeast ohio with a turbo 420A, that I could maybe get help from when I do decide to turbo my car?

There's alot of good information about designing and testing a turbo system in Corky Bell's book Maximum Boost. You should get that book if you're really interested in building one.

Learn how to read a compressor map to help you decide if a particular turbo is right for you. Here's a couple of sites that host compressor maps.

Decide on the kind of fuel system you want. The simplest would probably be a rising rate FPR like the HRC or Star kit. You could use an 8-injector setup - that's what I'm going with. You could also get a standalone ECU to handle fuel, as well as ignition.

I went and looked at Border's for corky bell's book, but $35 is pretty expensive for a book. Yeah I know it would be a good reference, and I will get it if I cant find the same information online. Thats why I started this post, to find that same information without spending the money. I wanna save it for my car! Any little bit helps.....

There is a good thread to look at. Maximum boost is a very good book to have, worth every penny IMO. You can also search endless threads here in the Turbo section, you can learn SO MUCH just by doing that. Turbo charging really isnt that complicated, just a lot to comprehend when it comes to how everything is mixed together to make it all work. Learn how the turbo itself works, then learn how to make it work on the car. You may want to do some online searches for "turbocharging" and also, on "internal cumbustion engines" and you will find plenty to keep you glued to your screen for hours on end. Good luck, and boost away! (oh yeah, i live in western Michigan, so i'm close to Matt, so we both can give you a hand for an install. Actually, i grew up in Toledo emoji Not too far from where you are i suppose. )

Thank you so much! Damn, the people on this board ar hepful. I might have to go buy that book. What's $35, when I'm going to spend over a grand on a turbo? Might as well make a good investment and save some money down the road, by doing it right the first time. I know how the turbo itself works, but what I want to know more about is how all the parts work together as an entire systm, and how to apply it to MY car. I will be reading as much as I can on the internet in the next couple months. Thanks again!
