#37941, "thinking about getting a new catback, need help."

so yeah, i need to get a new catback because the stock piping is pretty well rusted up and i don't really like my flowmaster 50 delta flow (would be nice if it was a little quieter). i've got a couple of options, and i'm not sure which one is the best.

one of my friends has a stillen cat-back on his 95 300ZX twin-turbo and it sounds nice as f.c.u.k. it's really deep and mellow sounding, not much louder than stock. i'm trying to get something that sounds like that. i haven't heard many people on 2gnt talk about stillen exhaust systems, so i don't know much about them.

1. a lot of people say that the GReddy Evolution sounds amazing. i'm willing to give it a shot.
2. i've heard a N1 on a n/a 240 and it sounded INSANE. i liked it a lot. can't remember if it had a silencer on it or not.
3. i could always get a N1 knock-off muffler from somewhere and get custom piping made, and be creative.

the thing i need the most help with is what size piping to buy. i'm HRC stage II right now (if my car was working), and i have plans to get to stage III or IV over the summer (i.e. after i get my new shortblock and fuel system up to snuff in the next couple of weeks upgrade to a FMIC and get an ignition timing control).

i've heard that if i order a N1 or a Evolution from somewhere i should specify that i want the GST one, so i'll have larger piping (i'm sure that GReddy and Apex'i design the GS/RS exhaust piping for n/a applications, according to them we're freaks because ) i also want to get rid of my cat and get a test pipe, but have the ability to swap in the stock cat if i need to pass emmissions here in Taxachusetts. will GST piping bolt up to the stock cat or do i need an adaptor? seems kinda silly to me to get 3" piping right after a much smaller cat/downpipe.

then again, i could just say "screw it" and get a full custom exhaust, 3" from the turbo all the way back to a knock-off muffler (don't want to wait for the ERT downpipe or the other weird one i've been hearing about). my mechanic did press-bent piping for my 1g SMIC, and i liked his work so i'd trust him to make me an exhaust system if needed. anyways, sorry for the long post.

I'm quite fond of the Tanabe Medallion. My homeboy's got a TSi w/ it on there and it sounds awesome. That's my recommendation if you decide to go turbo back. Hektik.

whats up man? well i got a 2.5 inch catback with a high flow cat. no resonator, and a straight through tuneable bomb muffler. its pretty damn loud, but once i turbo, it should be a little more efficeint/quieter. so its 2.5 inch pipe from cat to muffler. and yeah, taxachusetts sucks balls dud emoji
