What is a "good" A/R vs. a bad A/R?

thanks

A/R is the ratio of area to radius - basically the ratio of the turn and reducing diameter of the housing.

As far as what A/R is good, it's all relative to your goals and your setup. Larger A/R turbos spool slower on smaller engines, because it's a larger housing. However, because it is a larger housing, it flows more and so would work on a higher displacement motor.

Here's an example - a 16g uses a .48A/R exhaust housing. (standard mitsu 7cm2 housing).

A STAR T3/T04E uses a Garret .63 A/R exhaust housing.

The STAR spools slower, but because it will flow more exhaust, it has the capability to support more power. More air in, more air out.
