i am looking into going turbo as soon as i get out of school unless i come upon money. can my local garage install it without problems? From what i have read its not that difficult but my problem is i dont know that much about engines. I live in southeastern Pennsylvania are there anyone from this board on here? If so where did you get yours installed?

You should do the install yourself. You may not know much about engines but you should learn. Your going to run into problems w/ your turbo that can be easialy fixed if you know where to look. It would cost you a tone of money to take it to your shop everytime you ran into a snag w/ the performance of your car once it is boosted.

You will learn a ton of stuff once you do the install. That way when you have a problem you will have a better idea of where to look. If your going to boost your car learn how everything works, it's almost a must.

I agree. Do it yourself with a little help from some friends and the support and VAST KNOWLEDGE of this board. It would suck to pay a $65 an hour labor charge each time to find out that an IC pipe just slipped off or that a vac line just slipped off the boost gauge etc. . . .

definately do it yourself. all you need it some generic sockets, box end wrenches, vice grips, the crazy schrider valve removal tool (avaiable at any hardware store), ramps (or jackstands) to get your car up on, and some patience. you don't even need a torque wrench... i got by just fine without one. oh yeah, there's a substantial chance that hahn will screw up (happened to me, and a bunch of other people around here) when they give you fittings for your fuel/oil system, so you'll need to go to the hardware store and buy some brass fittings.

besides, you'll learn a LOT about your car in the process. it would suck if a leak developed in your fuel system (will probably happen the first time you get everything working) and you had no idea how to fix it and had to bring it back to the shop just for them to unbolt the crazy bracket holding the "raped pig" inline fuel pump just to tighten/reseat a clamp. anyways, good luck. i think i'm done now.
