#36752, "updates on J&S knock sensor."

i just read superstreet and the rx-7, making 400+ hp has a J&S sensor to prevent detonation. so what's up with J&S for the eclipse that with read on the boards in the last months(from jamesman i think)?

does the J&S thing work with the cars computer, or is it like the apexi s-afc in that it works independantly?

New Car:
2004 350z base, Nismo CAI, pioneer avic-n1 (dvd, cd, navi)

Old Car:
1998 GS with hrc stage 2, HID 6000k conversion kit, AEM UEGO wideband, sfmu, ml, prokits, Greddy warning gauges: egt, boost gauge, and oil pressure, apexi tt, haydans tranny cooler, costum dp, groundwires, dynotune fp gauge. gst muff, turbo spoiler
Boostin since Aug 03.

nothing like driving with the windows down and the music low: i love hearing the turbo spool, swwwhhhttt!!!!

Well if there were any car that realy needed that, it would be the RX7. I think ExtremeRS is going to put this system on his car. I was kinda waiting to see how it worked out for him. If he can get this thing working I am wanting one too.

I'm definitely interested in this item as well.

Please keep us updated, and if there's any possibility on a group buy, let's perhaps try to work one up.

Im also interested in the J&S. my friend has had it on his GSR since he boosted it, it has saved his motor on more than one occasion (car made 260whp on 6psi on a stock motor, but when they first turbo-d it, they had the aux. fuel pump hooked up wrong, so they were running just the stock pump...J&S pulled back mad timing on all cylinders, motor still has perfect compression like a year and a half later)

ATX->MTX Swap
Holset HX40 @ 26 psi

yeah i was almost ready to buy one and run it on my stock bottom end at 10 or 11 psi for the hell of it emoji If I remember right, there were 2 problems with it? One was the coil pack trigger signals not working properly with the J&S? And then it wasnt reading any knock? Jamesman, what was the deal again?

when we were initially working on it we found that the J&S unit could not drive the coil directly because its power transistors were not beefy enough. we did finally get the knock sensor to register, so the unit would theoretically work. the last time john and i were together he was trying to get the unit to work with the MSD dual tach adapter. he does have a unit that can drive the coils directly, but that is the 4 channel unit. I will still try to get with john to work out the quirks but i have not been able to hook up with him. he hasn't been returning my emails. i bet he is super busy with other projects. but i will keep everyone informed as progress is made.
