#36283, "T-2 Rods, Weisco 8:8:1 in my 2.4 TURBO"

i picked up my 2.4 block a couple of days ago from a local salvage yard. decided to go ahead and go through with the swap. i have a chance to get this set up at a good deal, t-2 rods and the wesico pistons. what are the pros and cons on these pistons and rods. any of you guys running em? thinkn about running around 16 psi's on the street with and around 22ish on the track. i wanna stick with my afc controller also. with this much boost, would i be forced to run bigger injectors? or could i stick with 525cc's? any info would be helpful, thanks.

I would say Wiseco makes good pistons. I have them in mine. Along with some Eagle rods. Wiseco has been around for quite some time. They make alot of pistons for motorcycles. I have about 10,000 miles of boosting 10-12psi on mine. No ignition retard.

the t-2 or turbo II old skool chrysler rods are great because they hold up to 500+horsepower and are cheap and easy to get u have to have the upper end rebushed by a professional 1 or 2 sizes smaller to fit thw weisco wrist pins but no big deal like 50$

make sure u get the t2 rods with arp rod bolts other wise u very well could get rod bolt stretch and kabang bent rod messed up journal and possible scarred cylinder,

the weiscos come from bstockum.com or blackdog bob custom weiscos are better because they our cutout for larger valves 1mm setup so u can run it if u want, they come in 8.5:1 10.5:1 and 12.5:1 im currently waiting on my 10.5:1's

the weisco pistons are forged with a thick ring land so no more ring land issues,

please do bore the motor .020 over and have the motor bored to the piston size and correct clearances thwat weisco will send u just dont go get .020 over cause it might be slightly off have them mic the piston and bore to each piston and have the piston marked for each cyl, if u are assembling your self,

your options for this swap on internals are srt4 internals or gt crusiar powdered metal rod okay strength
the piston on these are silicone coating and ceramic im pretty sure(might not be ceramic coated not 100% sure on this)

the t2 rod and cast mahle t2 pistons which gives u 8.1:1 compression and a cast turbo motor piston that will take around 30psi if tuned properly(does not need a rod end bearing resize if usging the cheap 130$ mahle cast pistons)

eagle rods 2.4 are nice piece these are brand new forged h beam rods nice pieces u cannot use the cl77 rod bearings unless they are machined for them (www.bstockum.com can help with that)

those are your options other then stock at the moment u can get je turbo pistons but they are nothing special above the weiscos dont ahve the large valve cutouts and cost more i see no reason to talk about them when the weiscos are better all around

remember u must research what timing setup hydralic or solid tensioner and water pump per year of motor 95-96 97-2000 caravan i think is 97-200 stratus style the pt style of tensioner is different also if u need the info i got all mine from neons.org, engine swap forced induction forum or u can contact me and ill help u with what i can...

can we say finger cramp? ^^^^^^

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

The skirts are coated with Teflon, the top are not coated
Strenght is above average for the rods since Chrysler is putting out a
300hp upgrade kit for the SRT-4 with stock internals you could bet that the rods could take at least 100hp more

Nice, that was the setup of the first version of the mexican 2.4 turbo engine of the Stratus R/T
However don't forget that you will need to have valve pockets machined
on the top of the pistons if not the valves will slam the pistons

i knew ud chime in alain on the srt4 stuff and gt cruisars

im not sure that with the mahle pistons u need valvepockets machine because the pistons wouldn't be able to touch them at 8.1:1 compression

yea dont forget the rest of the swap

I wouldn't pay full price for those but at the discounted price they went for last summer they was a mega deal

>im not sure that with the mahle pistons u need valvepockets
>machine because the pistons wouldn't be able to touch them
>at 8.1:1 compression

You do, confirmed by Bob Stockum, they are low compression because they are dished piston, but the lip of the dish is going high and on the dohc it touch the valves
