is the infamous turkey sound for which my car is known really compressor surge? I saw that in a post earlier about Bov's, i have the hks std, and im pushing 5psi on stage 2 kit (cause im still waitin on my injectors). The shop told me the turkey sound was the wastegate..I dont no for sure. Also, what other bov's bolt up to the flange that the hks std bov is on on the star stage 2?

well...i don't know 100% sure if it is or not, but my buddies turbo miata without a bov makes almost the same exact noise. When i swapped my standard with an HKS race BOV, it completely went away. All it does now is make a soft woosh. My only guess is that the tiny standard BOV doesn't flow enough... Maybe i am smoking crack though...who knows.
My HKS SSBOV did the same thing until about 10psi of boost. Thats when it goes from gobble gobble to a PSSSSSSSSSSSSSST. sound. I think its the lack of pressure in the piping that does get pushed through the BOV with enough force to maintain a steady sound Wyatt Leras http://www.turbogs.com 98 Eclipse GS Star Stage 5,000 Turbo kit
I dunno.. I have the HKS std bov on my star stage 2 setup running at 5 PSI or so and when my brother first heard he says it sounds like the car is laughing at him...
I want a loud WHOOOOOSH (like on those new WRX commercials ) instead of some chipmunk "laugh"! Is the HKS race bov good? I don't want the HKS SS since I have heard that and it sounds like chipmunks having a laughing frenzy....
