With my car, the most boost I could run on 93 octane is about 17-18 psi. I tried running 20 psi once and I heard detonation, and this is with timing retard and 625cc injectors. Safely, I think 15-17 daily should be OK. This is only MY opinin though emoji

yeah from all the info i gathered, 18psi seems to be the limit on pump gas. Pulling more timing wont be good, and running more rich wont make more power, so doing those wont help to run more. Time for octane booster or race gas.

I run 18psi, w/ some more tuning on a dyno I think I can easily manage 20psi.

It also depends on compression. Like I have 8:1 compression so I'll be able to run more boost than most here on 93 octane. Of course I'll have to run higher boost to get to the same power level as them so it's really a moot point I guess.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ive never ever heard of that, maybe 10-15 psi's the most, after that, they need to upgrade the internals, but 22 psi's is highly doubtful.

i didn't mean on stock internals, but there is a honda civic SI with a t3/t4 turbocharger running 22psi, on pump gas. That is why i asked.

and i also have a video of a 1.8T Golf running 22psi on pump gas, in the orlando area.

ive rarely seen 22 psi's on a built honda motor, more like 14-16 is realistic, 22 psi's on a honda motor (say a 1.8 vtech) is close to 11s. and theres few to none of them prowling the streets every day.

with built motors 22psi is not that hard to hit, armond hit 28 psi the one time before his motor went lean,

there are people running high boost its just not that many, the phat ridz 2.4 neon is running 25psi plus on 11:1 compression witha 250shot of nitrous! now thats a kick in the pants

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.

Large turbos mean more efficiency. A S16G will run into limits of how much boost it can run before a T3/T4. They can run more boost because they have more people established doing it. No reason why we can not either. It just means someone has to eventually do it.
