I was putting my engine back together and low-and-behold, my exhaust manifold is warped. The mounting flange, where it mounts to the head, is shaped like a bannana. When you bolt one corner to the head there is approx. 1/8 gap between the manifold and the head on the other corner. Have you ever experienced this? What can I do about it? I thought about shaving the flange to make it flat but I'm worried that may make it too thin, don't really know. Just in case nothing can be done, how much will a new manifold be? I still can't believe that a piece of stainless that thick could bend. I would have thought if it got that hot then something else would have melted or warped (namely the head). Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is possible that a loose bolt on one end of the manifold allowed the warpage to occur during operation. Some warping is not unusual, but 1/8" inch suggests that something else may have been amiss, such as a loose bolt(s).
If you like, we can inspect the manifold, and machine it for you. We have the tooling to do this efficiently and economically, since we manufacture them here.

Just a little addition to my previous post. If I include the fitting, could you also drill and tap it for my EGT? Just let me know what all this would cost. I really appreciate this. Joe 97 GS w/ Hahn stage 2 Keep cruisin' & keep the shiny side up. http://joeseclipse.homestead.com

I expect about $75 for all. Contact Dan: sales@turbosystem.com and ask for an RGA, refer to your conversation with Bill, and we will take it from there!

I e-mailed Dan. I take it that it will be no trouble to drill&tap the mani for the EGT? BTW I'm the one who bought the FMIC off the RS. I can't wait to get my hands on that thing Thanks again. Joe 97 GS w/ Hahn stage 2 Keep cruisin' & keep the shiny side up. http://joeseclipse.homestead.com
