#35431, "Piping size for a custom 1g smic mounting."
I got my smic and I'm going to put it on as soon as I order some pipes from JCwhitney. My question is what size should I get? I didnt measure but I know it's not the same size. The piping that came with the HRC kit is roughly 2 inches and it looks like the inlet/outlet for the smic is around 1.5 inches or so. Obviously bigger will displace more air so I'd like to keep it around 2 inches in diameter. I guess what I'm wondering is what should I use to couple the pipes to the smic? 2 inch couplers with a well tightened clamp or something else?

The 1 g sidemount IC inlet, outlets are about 1.75" in diameter. I used 2 " custom bent exaust piping, and that works great. You dont want to go too large of pipe, because that will slow down the velocity of the air going through the IC. The compressor outlet on the S16G is 2" i believe, and the Hahn kit piping steps from that to 2.5" before it reaches the throttle body.

2 inch is fine haha I used 2.25 and I get flutter so 2.25 is too much for low boost applications, the more boost you start using it becomes more desirable to use bigger pipes, hehe just look at dem supra turbo systems bwahaha.

Do either of you guys have pics of your install? I'm just trying to get a feel of how many and what shaped pipes I should get from JCWhitney. Thanks again.

If you try and do a search, i had posted some good pics of my setup a while back. I have no clue how long ago it was, but it wasnst too long ago...Maybe a search might pull it up...

I did see your setup and I saved the pics. At least I think it was yours.
You had the array of parts right? I think one was the stage I pipe cut, then a stage II that someone gave to you. I was just wondering if anyone did a full JcWhitney install and what they used. I'm all about the search function. I hate when someone on ASOG asks the same damn question 500 times in one day too.
