anyone know if we can bend that steel tube part of the o2 sensor? the wonderful design of the star kit down pipe puts it right up against the damn oil pan so i either will need to relocate the actual hole to put it in or will need to bend the blessed 02 sensor base tube thing...i wonder if its just there to protect the wire from the heat..if so i would imagine it could be done...i have an extra 02 sensor so i may take my dremel to it and see just whats in there....i hate to bend and ruin a 60 dollar part...if anyone could assist that would be cool..thanks...

Don't bend it. It is $100 i you break it.
What I had to do was:
Go to Pep Boys.
Purchase 1 spark plug fouler (for a ford).
Cut bottom of spark plug fouler off (cause all we need is the threads.
Put downpipe on car.
Find a spot where you can successfully run the O2sensor with out it getting in the way of everything. Make a good mark on it with machinist dye, or grease pencil.
Remove downpipe from car.
Cut off ugly bolt star put on for us from downpipe.
Patch the hole just cut, with sheet metal.
Drill out a hole where previously marked location on downpipe.
Weld on the cut spark plug fouler.
Put the downpipe back on the car and put the O2sensor on.

The reason i suggest going with that plug fouler is, it is a good size, and all we need are the threads. For a pack of 2 it'll cost ya about 2 bucks.

i had the same problem. so what i did was, i put the o2 sensor in a vice and with pliars slightly crushed the metal part and then bent it to the side very gently as to not disrupt any of the wires. make sure u put the o2 sensor in and twist it all the way and mark which way you need to bend to make sure u dont bend it into the pan. it just fits back there now and i had it like that since july with no problems.

look at the star guys coming to the rescue...damn retarded design...i may just give that a try..i suppose i could just weld my old o2 sensor onto the place star put it and then do the spark plug fouler thing...so then you haven't had any problems w/ the o2 sensor since you bent it?? i probably would only need to do it ever so slightly..i guess i should put the o2 sensor in w/ the downpipe out of the car to see how close it is...thanks..glad to see i 'm not the only one w/ this problem...

i say crush it! seriously though if u crush and bend just a little to clear the oil pan, you'll be good. even if it is only temporary until you can weld it someplace else later on if you want.

what an f'n fiasco....this kit is poorly fab'd...what we ended up doing is cutting the flange that bolts to the turbine housing so that we could get the d/p at a different angle..once we did that it was no problem at all...but i tried to bend it and my big cack got in the way and said "i'll take over" and snapped it...so i don't know if the blessed thing is shot or not...i can't tell if the wires in there broke or just stretched...i was thinking of getting a new o2 sensor when it hit me...the back one i will be putting an mil eliminator on anyways so its pretty much going to be useless anyways...most of the aftermarket o2 sensors are universal and come w/o the wiring harness..i figure i will remove my back one and cut that oem plug off, wire up the right one and use it...it should work, i don't think there is a difference in our o2 sensor from the front one to the back other than the fact the front heats up faster ....can anyone shed some light on this..i need to finish this engine this sunday...should i get a new o2 sensor or just make due w/ soldering the back one to the front plug? will it matter????? thanks for your expert advice in this.....

Poorly fabed is right... It sounds like yours is even further inboard than mine was. However, you have to think about when that sucker needs to come out again. You want to make sure you can just pull the thing out and put a replacement in.. That is why I relocated mine. I didn't want to have to remove the downpipe to do a 5 min job.
It is all up to you, and how you want to do things.

so do you think that i can just use the back o2 sensor or do i need to replace it...the damn thing is 70 dollars...
