Just wondering about the turbo off the new Neon..

Is it a 16G?..

Its a Mitsubishi TD04-L-16GK turbocharger..

I know that the turbo and exhaust manifold is a one piece..

And yes, I did use the search first..

I am pretty sure it is. I did see that they will have a stage 3 factory upgrade for 300 hp and 300lb/ft. With a test pipe tho, so not street legal. So, for those #'s, the turbo has to be pretty decent I think. 16 G would make sense. I am pretty sure that is the long name for the 16G also.

only one problem the hole setup is one piece manifold turbo easte gate etc really effecient but vary hard to upgrad ie neew new manifold turbo waste gate etc.. why?

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.

Don't forget, that "stage 3" upgrade from Mopar comes with a new turbo/manifold etc. to support that 300hp. But, I am pretty sure that it does come with a 16G stock, but I heard that it is one of the smallest 16G's made.......

Don't bother with this turbo.. You don't want it.. you can't really upgrade it and it's mopars way of locking in people to upgrade.

First off it's a td04 exhaust housing/wheel and a 16G compressor wheel. Good turbo.. but it's a LEFT ROTATION. It's backwards to just about every other turbo you can buy. The mopar upgrades move the turbo to a td-05 exhaust housing and different compressor housings i think. No mention if it's an 18G or a 20G on the stage 3 upgrade.. still.. it'll be left rotation.

99.95% of the turbos on the market are right rotation. You want a turbo.. save yourself the hassle and talk to hahn.

Dunno...

16G compressor wheel, TD-04 exhaust housing. Most 16g's that i've seen have a TD-05 exhaust housing.

Big/small/baby/gran-daddy.. pointless in labeling them that way. A compressor wheel is a compressor wheel.. it's a 16G left rotation compressor and wheel.

the hahn s16G and s20G use different exhaust housings/wheels.. ask bill hahn where he gets them.

this turbo won't work as easily as HRC's S-16G kit would for u. I would also think you could just buy a stage 1 hrc and come out much cheaper than buying a turbo from the dealer that you'd have to modify everything to work. The hahn kit will bolt right up. Why make this so difficult? I'm sorry to say it man, but you are looking for so many ways to turbo your car cheap, and the ways you suggest are always ways that would end up being way more expensive than just buying a kit. Just save up and get a HRC or star and be happy. emoji

You are all forgetting the most obvious
This turbo is a turbo/manifold combo, and it's made to fit the 2001+ 2.4 head, which has a different bolt pattern, differents exhaust port shape, different exhaust port positions

So basically .. it doesn't fit to start with ..

Oh, ok.. I thought the bolt pattern would be the same as the 1G Neons, which have the same bolt patterns that we do.. right?

Thanks

incorrect for 1 we have the thermostat housing in the way of manifolds and 2, bolt alignments and ports are slightly different moved etc, is what alain has told me

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
