I finally got that damn crankshaft pulley off and put another timing belt on. After getting everything said and done I try to start the car and it starts. Then dies and won't even try to turn over. It's like something is prevented it from turning over. Could timing cause this? It was timed as good as it's gonna get by eye with those little notches. This is the 2nd time this has happened. It's like its jumpping timing or something. What could be the curprit?

Make sure the little "notch" that your cam gears fit onto hasnt broken off, that happened to a friend of mine. did you check compression by any chance?

Hey brother my car had the same symptoms when my cam shaft retainer broke. It just sheared off. My cam gear was still held on by the bolt but when I would turn the car over it would move it a bit further off of timing. I actually tapped the hole out an put a new pin in. I also bought a pair of cams from fast420A but have not had time to install them. See in this pic. I had drilled out the remainder of the pin.
And here is with the new pin in place. (although it is not finished, I still had to grind a bit of that pin down, but you get the idea)
Im not saying that for sure this is what is wrong with your car..but something to look into. Like I said....mine had the same symptoms.
