Yes, the main difference is the wastgate spring the two kits come with. Stage 1 runs around 5 psi non-IC, so if you use an IC with a stage one spring, you will see around 4 psi. Stage 2 spring is around 9 psi, which you will see around 8 psi with the IC on there. You can either ask for the 9 lb spring when you order the kit, if they can do that, or just use a manual boost controller to up the boost to what you want (eg. 8 psi)

I got a 5 lb internal wg for the s16g for sale. I'd rather just use a 5lb spring and get a boost controller. The only reason HRC probably uses a 9lb spring is so the people who buy the stage 2 kits don't have to order a boost controller since 5lb w/intercooler might end up like 3-4 psi.

Wastegate springs from HRC are not cheap. At the time I purchased my HRC Stage II, I wanted to run a stage one boost pressure (5 psi) at first to make sure all my fuel settings were correct. Brad, at HRC, told me that I could order the 5psi wastegate spring for my Stage II kit but it would cost another $115 bucks. I decided to skip this option and kept the stage II wastegate but turned the wastegate rod (clevice) out as far as possible for lower boost. I now only see about 6/7 psi max. I am sure you could get a manual boost control for way less than that.

It is possible to order other wastegates from Hahn but you will pay alot of money for them - my opinion.

Kurt
