Ok, I know I posted about three weeks back saying I don't mind the noise but now it is getting to me. I went on a 200 mile drive and the pump got louder and louder once it got hot. Usually, once the pump isn't under idle, the noise would be less noticeable.

My car is running the following:
HRC Stage II (6 psi)
Missing Link
Vortech SFMU (Hard Spring/2.72 disk)


I read some archived post about dropping a Walbro 255 lph HP in-tank pump and have some questions (if another pump is better let me know).

Does this really quite the noise (I am assuming the inline makes so much noise since the flow rate of the stock can not keep up and the inline is working hard - I am sure this is why the inline dies eventually)?

Is the walbro 255 pump a direct replacement (any modifications need to be done when mounting)?

Will the walbro 255 pump need additional wiring or does it plug in to the existing harness (if so what kind - relays, etc.)?

How is the install (couple of hours - assuming all work can be done through the access panel under the rear seat)?

Can someone give me the exact part number for the Walbro that fits in our car (this pump is around $125 or so)?

Will my fuel settings change? Would I have to change the disk/spring in the Vortech SFMU (I wouldn't think so - Just would need to double check idle)?

I noticed that there is a 255 lph and a 255 lph High Pressure. I am assuming the High Pressure is the one I would want as a fail/safe for the inline.

I replaced my stock in-tank pump with a Nippon Denso 190lph pump and I am also running the Accel inline. It did make it considerably quieter.....EXCEPT when you drive the car really hard for an extended period of time, or when you're low on gas.

I'm not sure how the size of the Nippon Denso pump compares to the Walbro, but all I had to modify for the ND was the little rubber grommet on the top of the bracket.

The walbro pump is a DIRECT replacement. It takes less than an hour to install it. In fact your factory pump is just a bit shorter. That is it.

Is it true the the fuel feed line from the sending unit is brazed and does not rotate?

I understand it now. I was just reading it wrong. The one fitting on the right is attached to the line going into the tank (on the right in the picture). The fitting on the left rotates. If the fitting on the right was not brazed to the line you could never tighten it.

well like it was mentioned before the walbro is a bit taller so i simply drilled another hole in the bracket that holds the stock pump. It isnt that loud.. I like it since i can hear it when it chrages up,but once the car is on , the exhaust drowns it out. Well worth it, just take out the old one put this in... direct plug and play.

In my opinion, I think it sounds cool as hell with the fuel pump making those noises. If you ever saw an in-cockpit video of a 9 second car, their fuel pump is just as loud as ours. Makes my car sound like a race car. Again, this is just my opinion.

I just placed the order on the phone to www.lightningmotorsports.com -he has plenty of them in stock if anyone else is interested. The total price with free shipping via Ups is 115 bucks. I will probably be installing it next weekend so I will update. Hopefully, the noise will be quieted somewhat - I'll let you guys know.

The Accel Inline Pump that works in conjunction with your stock intank pump is loud. I am going to replace my stock intank with a Walbro 255 lph High Pressure pump and keep the Accel Inline pump. Hopefully a better flowing intank pump will quiet the inline.

well what's your af ratio? If you running freakishly rich like me don't upgarde another pump. just get used the noise, do you have a stereo system or exhuast system (haha don't like that sound either) on your car?
