HEllo everyone. i have had my star stage 2 kit on and running 8psi for about 3 - 4 weeks and i am now addicted to speed. i have been reading the capabilites of the gsx latley and i feel as if i made the wrong decision in gettin my non turbo. im now faced with the decision of either rebuilding my block or getting a gsx. i really dont want to get rid of my car for a stock gsx and be at the begining and start all over again. what i am asking for is maybe if it is possible to get into the 12's 1/4 with my block or should i just get a gsx and that would make it easier to make that goal. any advice is greatly appreciated. i would like to prove to everyone around my area that has doubted me and put down my car because it doesnt have a 4g63 in it that it can to be fast as hell. please help with my decision thank you

I love my 1g awd. It's a ton of fun to drive and has a lto of stock potential. However, I wouldn't get a 2g turbo for fear of Crankwalk. In the end, it's all about what's important to you and what risks you're willing to take.
I think every enthusiast here would agree that AWD is definitely that way to go for more power and pure driving pleasure. However, the number that are willing to risk that on a CW'ed second generation eclipse, are probably harder to find. If your only goal, is all out 1/4 mile speed in a DSM, then a 1gAWD may be in your best interests. If you require the dramatic curves of the 2G, stock with your 420a, and rebuild it to bring out its full potential.

Our block is fairly easily capable of 12's with the right tools. With good driving skills, slicks, and around 18-20 pounds of boost with good tuning, I see no reason why you wouldnt be in the mid to high 12's.

a 1g awd is a great car. i would not get a 2g awd. 1g is less prone to crankwalk compared to the 2g. the non turbo you got now, is cool. the block is capable of getting in 12s, just got to do alot of work to the engine and have a sorta good driver. cool

I'd look around. And I don't know about the 99 GSX being prone free to CW.
You said you wanted to smoke the local rice. Rice usually is very slow, so 12 sec 1/4 mile ET would be awesome but that would be to kill alot more than rice. That's for big dawgs, domestics, and even exotics. Many here are happy with the Stage 2, and many are happy with the rebuilt's. Go about this in a staged approach to where it feels fast enough to you and you should in the end have no problem with pesky rice...
