im guessing shot peening is like bead blasting where you take a peice of metal and blast it with metal beats/shot and it makes a neat looking finish thats non reflective. someone correct me if im wrong, but i belive they are one and the same thing.

I heard it can help/ fix cracks on the wastegate on the turbo. Because i have a 14b and it has cracks and i ned to take care of them i tought of taken it to the welders but it will probaly be hard to weld.

That's exactly what it is. However if you are doing it to strengthen your rods it doesn't work. Try polishing the casting marks from the rods to eliminate cracking. That will make them stronger. Once my new motor is done, I will be rebuilding my stocker thats in teh car now with forged pistons and rings and polished rods.

shot peen is supposed to make things stringer my crushing the very outer surface a little and making dimples init they use very small metal ball and blast the part with it

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

shot peened means the ruff casting is marred down so there is less of a start point for cracks. When the shot peen some thing it makes it like 15% stronger. This is an option for people with cars that dont have afetmaket rods. late mike
