This guy at the car show today told me that he had an RS with like 800 HP. Bullshit. Anyhow. He says that the eclipses blow head gaskets all the time after turbo and that you can't have a turbo'd show car b/c oil leaks. This shit isn't any more true than him having 800 HP is it? He said double stack the head gaskets. Wouldn't that raise compression and drop the reliability of internals under higher boost? I am seriously planning to go find power at the beginning of the year. If turbo will seriously fuck over a car, I will be selling my car for something else. Someone fill me in here. Turbo=oil leaks and blown head gaskets 24-7 or that guy= full of shit? or both?

he is FULL of shit, and stacking the headgaskets would do two things: A)cause a big leak, and B) LOWER compression, on stock internals, a thicker headgasket would probably be a good idea for safety. the new MLS gasket shouldntleak if installed properly(cleaning underside of head very well). ive been boosted for a long time now, most of it running 12psi and above, and ive never had one single leak out of my HG.

Yea that guy is full of it. My guess is that he couldn't even tell you what the MLS gasket looks like! Tell him to come on this board and talk that.....

ok ill explain comrpession for u the easy way,
when u compress a piece of foam u are smashing some thing orignaly was x big and making it half or 1/4 of that size, which is compressing it, so the closer your pistons get to the chamber of the head (were valves seat) the more compression u have, the further away your piston gets the lower the compression u get... etc,
bigger(thicker) head gasket lowers compression, thinner raise bring head cloer to the piston...
u can remove a layer of the mls gasket to get higher compression if u want...
all better now no more confusion.. =)
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
