In my quest for the perfect BOV as I only plan on purchasing one, here is my list...

Turbo XS-RFL
Blitz DD
Greddy Type-S
Apexi Twin chamber
Ols School Blitz SS
Turbo Smart SuperSonic (Australian brand)
GBC Type III (or something of that nature, made for an Audi/VW)

Budget allowed is about $250. After speakign to Jamesman, he recommend the type-S. Many local Socalers also swears by it.

How come the brass piston BOV are frowned upon?

Any personal experience with any of these listed BOV, I would like to hear about it. By personal experience, i mean you own one, or had one. Not your homie from the team XXX use to run one.. emoji

thanx.

Better yet, email me with your thought and comments to save space on the board if desired.

i heard the hks type ss last night ona mr2 and it was sweet howz the type s in comparison quieter?

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.

Unless you plan on going over 20psi any time soon, get a 1g BOV. 30-50 dollars. Works just as well (if not better) as those others for 200 dollars less. Use that 200 for some real mods emoji

I have the old style Blitz Supersound. It's sounds really cool, and it's pretty damn loud, but I had to cut a full coil off the spring to get it to stop having compressor surge. It works fine now though.

I have the Turbo XS RFL and I like it but it gets annoying sometimes. My homie on the west syde emoji had a Greddy type S and I liked it better. (Seriously)

i have the RFL as well. it's fun, because it's so loud, but the sound is very simple, just a loud "<chuff>", or if you ease off the throttle easy it will wistle at you. fun for scaring pedestrians > emoji the first thing i did when i got it was i took it apart, and i was like "crazy, this thing looks like a scientific instrument". it's pretty neat. it looks really cool too, and from what i hear it will handle more boost than any of us 2gnt'ers will be giving it. on the other hand, a lot of 4g63 guys i've seen have been using the greddy (the one with the purple cap? i think this is the type s) and they're usually on top of stuff. lots of people say that the HK$ super-sequental is amazing, but HK$'s stuff is usually overpriced. anyways, i'm done now.

I want the RFL when I get turbo. I have heard it. I don't care. The sound of a super loud BOV never gets old imo. My 2nd choice would be a greddy type s, for the whistle, or maybe hks ssqv. The hks really isn't loud enough to me. The few times I heard a 1st gen BOV, it sounded very similar to the greddy type s, and it would be cheaper.

have you ever heard a 1g BOV vented? Best BOV sound I've ever heard. Nice whoosh of air, followed by a high pitched whistle. I can't wait till I get a VPC emoji
