#3142, "Turbo Install..."

Hey all,

I live in Dayton, Ohio and am looking for a shop to install my Hahn Stage 2 turbosystem. Anyone make any recomendations? I've been pointed toward Passen Motorsports in Columbus, Ohio, but I wanted to see what you guys think. I would prefer someone with DSM N/T - T conversion experience. I know Passen is an Authorized dealer for Hahn, but they've never done the Hahn install on a 420a. I'm willing to travel a couple hours to get it done right.

Thanks-

Thanks Chris! but, a turbo install is just a bit above my mechanical level. I'd rather pay someone an outrageous amount for a few hours of work.

I do, however plan on standing over whoever installs it and annoying the piss out of them with stupid questions. emoji

I know of Passen and I'm way here in VA. They've been around a long time and have plenty of road race and engine work experience. I'd let them do it if the price was right. Nothing 420A specific to installing the turbo kit, its all bolt on except the oil drain (which is universal to any car).

If you don't mind traveling 4 hours for it..i could do it for you at Shift Altered Autos and Accessories in Latrobe, PA. The owner has done a couple of turbo honda's and a miata...and of course, i did my own car there. I got a damn good knowledge of how to install it since i did my star install with no instructions. If you are interested, let me know and we might be able to work something out.

About the rims, Thanks! I've been searching for rims for about two months...when I saw them I didn't think much, but then out of boredom a photoshoped 'em on the car, and WOW! So I ordered them. emoji

About the shop, when I talked to Passen Motorsports they said they'd probably be done in two days as long as I schedule a couple weeks ahead of time. They said it would cost around $800 plus a couple extra bucks if they needed any small parts.
Should I try to negotiate down from this?

They said the install would be cheaper if I got the kit from them, but I have worked out a deal with Mr. Hahn that is mutually benificial...Therefore, I'm getting the kit directly from Hahn.

DAMN!!! $800!!!! OH MY GOD!!! That's A LOT of money for an install. Generation X here in Bakersfield said they would charge me $500 and he said he could have it done in a couple of days too. And I would NOT be charged for small extra parts. I would try to negotiate with them. Also, you should ask them, if something goes wrong like an oil leak or an intercooler pipe comming off or something, if they will charge you for fixing it. Try asking them if they will sponser you? Like you will put a small sticker with their name on your car, and you will tell everyone where you got it installed, If they give you a discount. But I would ask around, ask other shops to see if they will do it for cheaper. Shop around.

Good Luck.

i was quoted $300 by a shop here in Houston, and told it would take about a day for my STAR.

Shop around!

Better yet.. the biggest advantage to buying a Hahn kit is thier Technical Support! I would really consider doing it yourself, simply because if you have any problems, any questions, or need any small parts, Hahn himself will be there for you. I have heard stories from some people on this board who have bought the kit and install it themselves and came up missing small things like gaskets and fittings, and HRC overnighted them.. at thier own expense! (if this was you, speak up!) Honestly, all you really need to do the install are a set of 10-17mm open/box end wrenches, a set of 10-18mm sockets, some extensions help, a drill, and an oil pressure sending unit removal socket. A jack and jackstands are good to have, too. emoji

If I ca do it, YOU can do it!

Point well taken...the main reason I don't want to do it myself isn't that I don't think I can do it, just that I'd like to have someone to bitch at if something screws up. emoji That and my dad would be bitching at me the whole time for "tearing my perfectly good car up" (GOD, that irratates me.) I'd rather pay someone who's done it before to do it and save myself the headache.

As far as the cost, I'm going to try to negotiate them down from this price. From what I understand Passen is very good, and I'm willing to pay a bit more for that, but Judging by the prices mentioned I probably shouldn't pay more than $600 max.

Thanks-
