I can get a good sohc 420A block and crank for a hair over $100. I read somewhere that the sohc and dohc blocks have the same casting #. Is this true?? I mean I understand that the bore is the same and the head will bolt right on, but what about mounting it in the car? In short, I am just making sure that the sohc has all the right holes and bosses to use in an eclipse w/ a dohc head. If this is going to work, I think stage 3 might come around by summer Thanks for your help guys!

The blocks are identical, just the head is different. SOHC is what the head is, single over head cam, just as DOHC means dual over head cam. We can't and don't want to use that SOHC head. So hell yes grab that block and build'er up.

You got it right, the sohc block is the same.
