I was just wondering? When they upped the displacement in the howell stroker kit, was it done only in the size of the bore? Or is the stroke altered as well? I only ask because I can't help but notice those 2.5 liter 4 bangers that only get 6,000 RPM's out of them

I don't believe the 2.0l can gain much displacement by boring (thin cylinder walls). I believe the 2.2l stroker gains nearly all of its displacement by a longer stroke (hence the name "stroker"). With high performance internals, you should still be able to rev high. All else being equal, a longer stroke will increase piston velocities. Higher piston velocities increase the maximum tensile load on the rods. The maximum tensile load that a rod can support is often its limiting factor. Maximum RPM's are often reduced to reduce that maximum tensile load on a rod. I believe that performance aftermarket rods are strong enough that you don't need to worry too much about the revs.

I questioned this myself and found that they overbore the cylinder .04" and the Rod/Stroke ratio is 1.545. The increased stroke also places alot of stress on the cylinder walls. Should be ok up to 7k but I woundn't want to go higher than that.
