#31102, "Howell 2.2L Short Block w/ HRC Stage II?"

I am thinking about purchasing a Howell 2.0L built short block as it is time for built internals. Can I use a 2.2L Howell stroker short block w/ my HRC stage II? Would this give me much more power? Will everything bolt right up?

I'm sure you will be happy with this setup, but if you want to hear about some things to double check on the block so you don't get near as pissed off as I did, hit me up on e-mail. I have the 2.0 Howell block in my car right now.

It is the same block as the one you have in your car right now, only the howell one has a stroker kit in it. It will bolt right up exactly the way yer stock one is. If you go that route, I would suggest sealing off the freeze plugs in the oil passages on the timing belt and clutch sides of the block. Mine leaked and I had to pull the tranny out and take all the timing belt crap off just to fix oil leaks.

seal off the freeze plugs with what? So you have a howell 2.2L in your car? What kind of power increases do you get from the 2.2 instead of the 2.0L? Is it worth it?

I sealed them off with an epoxy sorta like JB weld, but better from what I was told by multiple smart people. I coated em pretty good around the edges... I dont EVER wanna fix those stupid things again haha.

There were a few other minor things that displeased me, but I no longer feel comfortable talking about that here. If you want to know more, just send me an e-mail and I'll get back to you that way.

Just wondering..

Why are people getting the 2.2L when they can get the 2.4L?

Remember, there is no replacement for displacment emoji ...

Won't you get alot more power out the 2.4L as compared to the 2.2L?

Thanks

#1 reason would be that the 2.2 is a direct drop-in.

2.4 requires a lot of extra work, which is why only 1 2gnt 2.4 swap is complete, and 1 has been "in the works" for a while.

the neon guys have kits to adapt their mounts to the 2.4, we're on are own. it can be done, but the 2.2 is a 2.0 block w/ a stroker kit, so no extra work has to be done
