I actually stumbled across this forum through the Optimuspeterson website (sorry I don't remember his name but he posted the HRC install instructions and has been very helpful with questions I have asked - thanks) and have also found this forum to be very helpful.
I have a couple of questions about their Stage two turbo kit. After reading this site I am considering purchasing the vortech FMU to replace the fuel pressure regulator that comes with the kit (I noticed some refer to the vortech as FMU and SFMU - what's the difference?) I have read alot of people having trouble keeping rock solid fuel pressures.
I would also like to know if anyone who has installed this kit lives in the NJ area (other comments from different states are welcome) and has had any problem passing inspection based on emissions. Also, how is dependability - assuming kit is installed correctly.
The last question I have is about the socket for a oil pressure sending unit. I bought one the other day (haven't had a chance to go under the car and try it yet) made by Leslie that fits 1 1/16" oil sending units on later model chrysler cars. Is this the proper one? If not which one do I need? (I couldn't find it in the Mitsubishi Motors shop manual I own and the dealer - satan - wouldn't tell me).

The FMU has no idle or static fuel pressure adjustment on it, as you will need to retain the stock fuel pressure regulator for engine vacum conditions. The fmu takes over when going into boost. The SFMU has a fuel pressure adjustment that you use to set idle and static(0psi) fuel pressure,so you dont need to keep the stock fuel pressure regulator as this will take its place for engine vacum conditions. This is VERY helpful when using larger than stock fuel injectors, and different than stock fuel setups...My suggestion is the SFMU, but it is more expensive.

I cant comment on the emmissions thing, here in Michigan we have no testing as of now... After all the bugs were worked out on my HRC kit, its VERY dependable..havent had any probs since i fixed the fuel reg probs and the map voltage clamp problems...The 2 main probs with the HRC kit..

Yeah, you got the right one. Actually, a deep well normal socket will work too, the same size of course..
Good luck, and you will love turbo!! We are always here to help out

You found me! I actually called Hahn Racecraft and asked them if they could send me a copy of the installation instructions a while back just to get more details on the kit. The said they wouldn't because it contained information on parts they used in the kit (which I guess you could then go and purchase separately and build your own custom kit). So I went to google and typed in HRC install instructions and your site was listed. Your site has led me to some very good information. I even found some of the shop manual pages. Too bad I just bought the book last friday for $115 bucks.
Thanks again for guiding me in the right direction - I now spend a good amount of time reading these posts. Can save you a lot of time and money doing things correctly the first time.

i live in nj. I don't know if you'll pass but do what i did and go to a station a buy a sticker, that works. and for a place to get it installed you can look at Darkside Auto Salon in Lake Hiawatha. He will install for about 600. He did a hrc neon kit last season and the car is still running strong.

Thanks for the replies (please keep them coming as the more information the better).....I have done quite a bit of work to my car currently that definitely would not pass motor vehicles inspection. My 1996 eclipse GS has the following mods (completed by myself):
- Lowered using Tokico 5 way adjustable shocks and their corresponding springs - Ingalls camber kits - VIS Racing Strada F1 Front Bumper and Side Skirts - Kaminari Wing with Rear Brake Light LED - Piaa Stealth 9200 Fog lights - Piaa High/low beam Super White Bulbs - HKS Cat back Exhaust - Iceman Air Intake - B&M short shifter - Momo Red Combat shift knob and shifter boot - Energy Suspension Shifter Bushings - Sparco Floor Pedal Set - Custom Floor Mats - Racing Hart C2 Evolutions with Toyo T1 Proxies - Pilot Motorsports Front and Rear Strut Bars - Pilot Motorsports Lower Tie Bar
Some mods other people may not like (saw some posts before ripping on neons) - Gold Series Undercar Neon (Red) - 9" Mini Tubes located under steering wheel and glove box (Red) - Neon lights are hooked to custom in car switches - Red Windshield washer lights
I have paid a mechanic to inspect my car in nj about 6 months ago (inspection in NJ is every 2 years) as I know I would have not passed regular inspection with the car sitting 4 inches off the ground with a fiberglass front end and a high wing. If I put the turbo kit on I plan to take it to the same mechanic. I have read that a turbo kit actually decreases some aspects of your emissions. (I've been researching turbo kits for a while now from manufactures pros/cons to how one works)
I have done all these modifications myself and plan to do the turbo kit. I appreciate the suggestion for an install shop as is helpful if I run into a problem or change my mind. If anyone needs information as to where I got parts or how much I paid feel free to ask (I saved all the paperwork).
