#30407, "HKS TURBO TIMER HARNESS (which one, need to know asap)"

does anyone here use any of the HKS turbo timers? specifically the type-1 or type-1 US Spec. i assume all HKS timers use the same harness, but i ordered the type-1 US spec black timer today, and i need to know which harness to order? do i just use the MT-6 harness thats listed for the 95-99 turbo eclipse here?
http://www.overboost.com/obs/product.asp?pid=16729&cat_id=13&cat_name=Engine%20Management&sc_id=128&sc_name=Turbo%20Timer%20Harnesses
if so, is it plug and play or does it require splicing and soldering to use on the NT's?
if not, which one do i need and where did you get it. id like to order the harness today if i can get a reply quickly. serach yielded nothing. and if anyone has a writeup on the eclipse-specific install point me to it.
thanks

Also I have heard that you do not need the specific harness that goes with your TT ie. you can use the apex one with the hks i believe. But yeah the turbo harness will work with on the nonturbos.

cyan: Yes, you use the MT-6 harness for the HKS Type-1 turbo timer. It is plug and play. I took me about 10 minutes to install it. Make sure to use the wire connector on the e-brake wire otherwise it won't work. I have that harness and the silver HKS Type-1 turbo timer and it works great.

i just installed mine the other day.. very simnple...
here is the link to the vfaq:
http://ca.dsm.org/FAQ/2gtt-faq.html

its for the 4g guys, but its the same process for us... but basically.. use the same harness for the 4g guys (you probably dont need it and could splice the wires.. but plug and play is very nice), and then because you are using the type-1.. you will need to run the rpm wire to the tach signal (white wire, may have brown triangles).. and the speed sensor wire to the speed sensor wire in the ecu (yellow wire with white stripe)... just use the clips that come with time TT and youre good to go... you are going to love that TT.. its fucking sweet.. plus its a bright ass blue back-lit LED that will match your car perfectly.

not sure what you are referring to.. the colored wires i was talking about are from the ecu.. depending on which TT you are using... you will need to run the appropriate wires to them.

the brown wire you are confused about comes with the TT... the brown wire goes from the back end of the TT, to the white wire (sometimes with brown triangles, depending on what year).. of the ecu.

the TT should have come with three long wires, i believe it was a blue one for the speed sensor, the brown for the tach, and the grey for the parking brake.

dont use the instructions that come with hks... those insturctions are for the 4g guys. its similar installation process, but the wires are different colors (at least i think).

qwad65.. if you are using the hks type-1... it will work without using the speed/tach wires... the timer itself will work and a couple other functions will work.. but if you want the rpms/speedo/ and 1/4 times to be accurate (im not even sure they will work without the wires connected), then you will need to connect those wires.

Jasvb TS2K2.. technically, they dont make a harness for the 420A.. but it so happens that the harnesses are the same for the 420As and the 4g63s are the same... and i dont have a factory alarms, so i cannot be much help there.. the link that i posted from vfaq did show how to install with the alarm.. but im not sure if that is the same wiring diagram as our cars.
