#29920, "440(42LB) injectors with stock ecu"

Who has them installed on their car with only the stock ecu and a fmu?

Please only post if you are running stock idle fuel pressure and no S-AFC to reduce idle fuel.

I read in a a few earlier posts that it can be done with a 1:1 regulator on a HRC kit. I am going to try and do it with the standard vortech fmu with the 3:1 disc/ring installed. It will probably be more like 2.5:1 actual fuel pressure rise in the fmu. I am thinking this might be good for 1500 egt with 10 psi boost on a stock bottom end. Going with higher boost should result in the need for the 4:1 disc/ring to be installed.

I also plan on checking Long/short term fuel trims and see what they are reading at idle and hard pulls at full boost.

I will also report on the timing advance and we can see what it is at during max rpm in full boost.

If anyone has any data to share on this subject, please do so. Please also post what your turbo setup is-big difference between star and hahn(16G/20G). I really would like to know the idle fuel trims from the dude that has the 1:1 regulator/440 injectors/hahn setup.

Thanks to Armond for opening up this area of discussion. I am not much of a feedback kind of guy, but he is one of the leaders in the 420A field and I thought I would finally say something.

why are you going to run a 4:1 or even a 3:1 disc w/ 440s AND stock idle/static pressure??? your gonna be dumping fuel like crazy

i have the 315s w/ a sfmu run 25psi idle, ~40 static, and have just the 3:1 disc in, and at 9.5lbs im still WAY FAT. had the wideband o2 sensor when i did my dyno run two weeks ago and i was off the chart, like ~9:1 a/f, d'oh!!

1:1 is the closest your gonna get, and good luck idling w/ 440s @ 45psi

let us know how things go! thanks

It wont work. You need an s-afc.

I don't know of anyone acctually running this setup. Armond talked about some findings he had while installing the e-manage equipment. I would check with him he is the only one that I know of to experience this in person. I was not able to fully grasp what he was saying in that post so I would like some clarification as well.

Remember that I have the star kit. I use the 8:1 disc/ring(standard fmu) with the 30LB injectors. I am running 9 psi currently in this damn heat and my egt is rock steady at 1580 degrees at redline in 3rd and 4th gear. I can live with the temps at this boost level.

I want 10 psi in the 100 degree heat with the option of going to 12 psi with a mix of C16 race gas. I currently do not have enough fuel for it and want an easy fix. I will probably never use a S-AFC on the car. I will use an engine management system, but need more fuel now. I read the post from Armond and thought if the ecu can pull 25% short term/25% long term at stock idle pressure with 500cc injectors, then 440's should not be a problem. It might not require all 50% trims to be used for better drivability. 440cc with the 4:1 disc is good for 15 psi. 440cc with 3:1 will probably be good for 12 psi easily. I would like my egt back down to 1520 if I could.

If the motor blows, no big deal. My spare can be built in a couple of days after receiving the parts.

Now you know the rest of the story. Hopefully someone else can add to this discussion.

Thanks guys.

The only car remotely doing this is mine. It is running 525's with a 1:1 and an inline fuel pump only. It has managed 18psi like this. The E-Manage will be going in anyway for the extra tuning ability. Because it works for me is not a guarentee it will work anywhere else. If you want to even try it, I would recommend only using a 1:1 and nothing higher. It is worth a shot if anything.

I think it will work for everyone's car, it's jsut that most people don't giv ethe car time to adjust itself, or they have bad o2 sensors. it took your car about 5 min or so to lean itself out enough so that it idled liek stock. right after starting it the first time, it sounded like a harley for a few minutes. that is what most everyone gets, and they shut it down and say it wont' work. dataloggers are cool tools. worth a good 122 bucks in my opinion.

Mine idled for half an hour with the afc disconnected on 440's and never trimed out low enough to drive. I don't think it's all cars - i think there is something wrong with Chris's emoji

Thanks for the info guys.

Dino, how old(miles/years) was your front O2 sensor when you tried it? not sure if it makes a difference, but just maybe

So once it does learn to idle down then it will remember the trims and start up next time w/ the new trims and run ok right? It doesn't have to adjust trims everytime you drive??

*edit* and Dino don't you use the stock FPR? I think Armond's was trimmed to the max AND he had the idle pressure way lower. Maybe that's why yours didn't idle. Just a thought...

Probably. Even though it *might* work for *some people*, i surely don't see it as an ideal solution. No ability to fine tune anything..

Idle pressure is non adjustable on my regulator so set at 45psi.

Both short and long term trims were set to max -25%.

All I care is the car runs 18psi, idles fine, no codes, and hauls ass. emoji

I will still need the Emanage for fine tuning. The e-manage has been declared doa. New one should be back in next couple of weeks and as the harness is still in the car should just plug right in.
