BSFC is a # used in figuring out what kind of fuel setup you will be using with a certain amount of hp in mind etc.. its on corbins injector formula....

Yes I did re-build my engine back in Feb.

On a naturally aspirated engine you would have ~.50 BSFC
But for a turbo charged engine it would be more like ~.60

Before my rebuild I would have said my engine has ~.50 BSFC
Would I still say my car has the same BSFC as before now that it has a lower compression or what?


My guess is that it would be the same now as before the lower compression.

Brake specific fuel consumption

I would expect that decreasing the compression ratio increases BSFC. All else being equal...lowering compression will decrease efficiency. Efficiency is then related to fuel consumption and power output. Fuel consumption and power output are, in turn, related to BSFC.

i believe the BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) is the amount of fuel you use to produce 1 horsepower per hour. So, if you decrease compression and increase boost you decrease the efficiency of the engine making it necessary to use more fuel to produce the same horsepower. So i'm thinking that the BSFC will increase to like maybe a .60 from our stock .525. But check www.rceng.com and use their worksheets to determine the BSFC they have a worksheet there.
