I try to set my idle fuel pressure at 55psi...but every time I go back to check it like the next day it will either be higher like at 80psi or lower around 35psi...it wont stay at 55...does it just suck? Any help?

Note: I told Ryan this would happen before I even installed the FPR.

Why? Why ask why?

-Bad exhuast manifold allen bolts
-Bad Fuel Mapper
-Oil drain line too short

AND

-BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR! emoji

I already know what you think, I wanted replies from others that maybe knew how to aid the problem. I know my fpr sucks, and fuel pressure fluctuates; just curious if anyone knew a way to stop the fluctuation...

I dont need your replies here Jason, I can ask you in real life -- the board is for everyone that isn't 10 minutes away.

So what do you suggest that you use in place of the "Bad allen bolts", "bad fuel mapper", and "bad fuel presure regulator". I am a Turbo 420A rookie....I need help.

Easy...

Instead of Allen bolts, get something else, such as 4g63 studs and nuts, just get anything else.

Instead of the Fuel Mapper, get the Missing Link that's been talked about a ton in some recent threads as of late. (Use Search function)

Instead of the HRC FPR, get the Vortech S-FMU.

Ryan- What's anyone going to say or do about your FPR Ryan?!?! Tell you to put a magical spell on it or tap it three times and hope that it'll be more steady in the future? There's a reason why everyone switches from the HRC FPR. This is common knowledge. emoji

I merely posted my remark here so others who know that I only live 10 minutes away understand that I tried to provide you with a good answer. emoji

After that, you're always free to give Bill Hahn a call and let him feed you his company line on how the FPR is supposedly properly doing this to compensate for temperature and barometric changes. emoji When I read this explanation in the most recent fuel system you recieved, I thought what a ridiculous attempt to "scientifically" make excuses for a poor product.

Why is it that very other FPR I've bought since (such as the Vortech or the Aeromotive) have no such fluctuations under any circumstances?

Why would a turbo fuel system totally based on rising fuel pressures allow psi fluctuations of 10-20 psi or more when that's the most important component of fueling?

I'm still baffled.

Yes, the cartech is a piece of shit....really... Get yourself a Vortech SFMU, it holds rock steady pressures, and is waayy better quality than the craptech fpr. Around 280-300 brand new from vortechsuperchargers.com. I have REPLACED almost EVERYTHING in my Hanh turbo kit, except the turbo itself, and the exaust manifold. The fuel pump whines like a rapped pig, the fuel mapper goes bad on damn near all of em, get the Missing Link map check valve to fix that. I was having probs with my craptech, so i took it apart and cleaned it, and lubed up the piston on the one diaprham, and it worked better than it did, but still not perfect. If you want to be done with it, get the vortech SFMU. Trust me.

First off, I didn't bash him.

I want to know about you jason. What
>does your car run?

How is that relevant to anything?

Cause the way you talk its like your the
>fastest car on this board. Just remember bro you werent born
>boostin and you needed advice as well. llate mike

The way I talk? I'll be the first(and have done so over and over) to tell my story about initially coming on the board seeking advice over 4 years ago, but I doubt any of that is relevant to the point you're making. I think somehow you're reading into some of the sarcasm I had in my response to Ryan, and if you knew anything about how many answers I give him in a given day, you would still know very little about what you're assuming in your post.

In any case, if you want to "know" more about me, send me an email. Ryan and I have already talked on the phone about this, and we're cool, however, if you have some unknown grudge you'd like to vent in my direction, please feel free to send me an email. I will respond.

Have a nice evening.

My hrc FPR is working great. It usually has to be warm for it to hold constant idle pressure. Make sure you check it when its warm. But it holds boost fuel pressure all the time pretty good.

hey jason it is relative what your car runs cause i wanna know. And please just spit it up i dont have the time to e mail arguments with you. You talk down to these guys alot, I've read your replys. It just doesnt make sense. People come to this board for help and what you do is degrade them infront of everybody (new and old). And for the new people posting well I probably would not come back. I hope your seeing my point here. Ive tried helping people on this board like crazy I've made a shitload of stuff for people in the local area. And talking to people the way you do doesnt help people like me. late mike

Well, I've run a 14.8 @ 94 only being the track twice ever on stock internals. Moreover, I've been on my same stock internals for over2 and a half years and 30k miles boosting every dayin hot humid summers and cold winters.

Additionally, in terms of my contributions to the board in which you perceived to be of the purely condescending variety, I guess I have no good answer to that. I'm sorry you feel that way.

(Rant mode on)

However, from my own perception, I do everything I can to post on this board every meaningful bit of information that I find. I never hold anything back in terms of my own intentional utilitarian good will and really try to help everyone around me accomplish all they really can with their 420a applications.

I have long fought the misperceptions in the DSM community whether they existed here or in other 4g63 communities of what I perceive to be unequivocal advantages to our 420a platform versus the 4g63. Additionally, I do all I can to help every single 2GNTer that happens to PM me, email me, and even now, call me. I have given out both my home and work phone numbers to fellow members in an effort ot help them out. I've been on the phone for long periods of time with Hahn tryin gto explain to him my problems with the HRC FCD, while I had already replaced mine with a superior product. I've sent long emails to HRC in an effort to have a turbokits provided for the Avenger V6 platform.

I'll even, in some cases, put my own wife on hold, so I can help fellow members install such items like intakes, suspensions, S-AFC's and even full weekends installing turbo kits. And I have been known to spend an entire day (from 12 to 12) devoting all of my time away from my wife allowing others to use my car for a prototype my car for fitting of parts. Let me add, that I have long been a person who tries to answer even the most redundant questions over and over to even the newest newbies. I have donated money to this board more than once just for its upkeep.

Last and not least, I do everything I can to maintain a level head and mature attitude, when for some reason, I have posters such as yourself, make it your mission to bring disrepute to my reputation.

(Rant mode off/)

I hope other people on the board do not think I am incapable of firing a list of explitives at this point to someone who might be deserving, because I am very capable of it. Not only do I have a career based in conflict, I'm an avid basketball player and softball player, so in those arenas, I allow myself to get a little more ballistic. However, this is my "relaxing" hobby, so I don't really feel like bringing that attitude here(especially on the internet), however inclined part of me wants to.

Now again, you may have caught me in a different mood swing where I responded to Ryan with a little sarcasm. However, I do know this guy personally, and see him quite often. So, sometimes that personal sarcasm, I think, should be especially afforded towards a person that I see 2 or 3 times a week, however unapproving that may be to you. Plus, you really have to know Ryan....even he'll admit to be the type of person to ask the same question 5 different ways, 10 different times. (no offense Ryan)

So "Mr. Rpm97talon," I feel like I've at least presented what I, at least, perceive to be of worthy character. If you still feel like I'm some sort of asshole, I guess I'm just not worthy of your respect as a fellow person. You might as well just be angry with me. (I'll just somehow try and live with myself in spite of that) emoji

Jason, you are a great help to the board. You have definately helped me. And you do have an understanding wife!!!

I've met Jason in person and he is helpful and fun to be around. Good taste in beer if my memory serves me emoji Sarcasm can slip into anyones posts, especially when it is someone you talk to often, be it online or especially in person. I have not detected any of that sarcasm to someone Jason is not very familiar with and will understand the humor. Hell the post included that Jason helped on the install, there is obviously a friendship there. You say repetedly he has domonstrated this condesending attitude, I just don't see it.

Whatever conception a few may hold, Jason, You ARE a valuable member of this community. (now I'm coming down t Springfield for a beer)

Thanks Mike #2! emoji

Well, I'm sorry Jury for whatever I've done. I'm just a bad, bad person, I guess. Maybe I'm too tired or too dumb to understand whatever you're talking about, though. emoji

err .... Hey Ryan, ditch the POS cartech and take this S-FMU sitting in a box in my garage. Oddly enough, it was Jason's replacement for his POS cartech. If you're interested let me know. I'm tired of looking at it so I'll give you a deal. avenger@quietrage.com

cant do it saturday bro i gotta work. And i guess something should be coming around about the new lexus to replace the old one. Hey i need to tell you about a new project. Since all these people wanna run 8 injectors I'm gonna make a dual inline, top mount injectors sheetmetal intake. Hopefully i will be able to get like a bbk or rc throttle bodyon there. I have no idea how much it is going to cost. I finally got the complete solid motor mount finished and in full swing and Ive got a spare billet rail. Maybe you need to get off early one day and swing by the machine shop with me. Ps the new shop i open with a friend is doing good and I just keep running out of time. Late mike

Hey Rpm97talon lol,
Dude I see why you think Jason_esit is a being a bully to Ryan_RS, but dude thats not the case. Jason and Ryan live next to either. Jason actually helped and told Ryan_RS on doing the HRC turbo install. They installed Ryan's turbo in actually Jason_Esit's garage.
They are just friends messin with either. Rpm97 you just didnt understand the situation. You know how friends mess with either. Thats all they were doing. Jason_esit already told Ryan in person, after they installed the HRC turbo kit that his fuel pressure regulator was crappy so..
Jason wasnt being a prick at all toward Ryan. They are just arguing to either. They always do. You shouldn't have talked about Jason, until you understood why. I was there too actually when they installed Ryan's turbo in Jason's garage. And about Jason_esit car, it my mind and heard from others that he has one of the best talons ever seen(with the stock look). And after he gets his internals install which are in his garage, he can run however fast he wants to go.

SO just chillout Rpm97talon, and u2 Jason, (he didnt understand)
Micheal Kul, come down dude, we can have our own DSM meet, and some beers.lol

(look at the pics, 1st pic, Jason_esit car in the background and another friends 1G AWD Talon. 2nd Pic, Ryan_RS car in background)

Hello all,

I'd like to comment on the technical aspects of this thread. Would like to see a new thread so that viewers are not exposed to the 'infighting' seen here. It's not that this spat is without value, it's just that it might otherwise distract readers from the meatier tech info, and this thread is way long already!

Would one of you who have relevant questions please start such a new thread? As this new one could be seen by many, please try to avoid a sensational title like "%$#%^$ POS HRC Fuel Regulator problems". Something more neutral, like "HRC Fuel Regulator Discussion", would suffice. I'll chime in and give you folks some info you will find useful, for sure.

Email me when the thread is posted, OK? eng@turbosystem.com
