Hi Guys:

I recently installed my new rods and pistons and it seems I have a slight knocking sound when the engine is cold. After it reaches normal operating temp the sound stops. Anyone have some ideas what causes this. Also, I didn't notice any marking on either the wiseco pistons or crower rods to indicate direction of installation (front).
Please verify!

Did you change your rod bearings. That my be the cause of it. I have wiseco pistons and eagle rods too, did you do the install by yourself or someone else did it? Whats your compression and how many psi are you pushing?

From what I have been told, the knocking sound is normal with the forged aluminum pistons, due to their smaller size(diameter) than stock pistons when cold, this is since they will expand as they come up to operating temperature, hence the noise while cold. I have heard different things about what side of the piston faces front or back. Some say there is no offset(and front/back would not matter) while I have heard others say that there is wrist pin offset of like 1mm. All I do know is that someone found out from JE Pistons that the "JE" cast into the underside of any JE piston goes towards the exhaust manifold side of the engine. I realize that this does not help you any. I am not sure on the rods. I would think that it would'nt matter since I think rods are for the most part symetrical, I could not see a reason why they would not be. Hope this helps.
