#29203, "Ok, i think my boost problem is my BOV!!"
WEll after a crappy night at the track (15.4 ET @ 6-8 psi, with my boost probs), i may have found the true cause of my boost spike/fade problem. When i'm at idle, i can feel some air coming out the bov. When i slightly rev it, i can feel more air, then it seems to close off. I can take off the bov, and i can blow just a bit of air through the inlet of it. I have to try hard to do it, and just a small bit of air gets by. This is not supposed to be like this right? The BOV should stay fully closed at idle, and should not leak any air right? This may be why i have moderate boost lag, and even more lag when i shift gears. That 3000GT OEM BOV is a POS in my opinion. All plastic and cheap looking..Well shit, ANOTHER piece of the Hahn kit that is going to be replaced with BETTER QUALITY parts..Lets see..the only thing left from this kit is the turbo and manifold!! So can anyone confirm what is happening with my BOV? Thoughts, opinions?? Thanks for the help guys...

That Bov is garbage. When I ordered my kit I had them credit the total. I told them not to give me the boost gauge, pod, or the BOV. Since I already had two of them, and wanted to have the HKS SSQ. Get a new bov and you will be surprised at how much better it holds boost. Turbo xs also makes some pretty affordable ones that I hear work well.

OK, I'm starting to wonder maybe this is my problem as well. My boost spikes to about 14-15psi, and falls down to 11psi quickly in second gear. Third gear it spikes the same but falls down to 12.5psi first, then down to 11psi near redline. Maybe I need to put some of those washers in my BOV to tighen it up???? Shit, I'll mess with it a bit, not gonna hurt anything! XtremeRS, does any of your buddies have a BOV on their car that you could swap onto your car for a quick drive?? That way you could find out if it's the culprit for sure before you go and buy a new one....just a thought.

Matt, I think I told you this last night, but you can just take my TurboXS Type-S this weekend since I'm not going to be boosting for awhile anyway (breakin time). Cya this afternoon.

We have all the TurboXS products on sale for 20% off retail. WWW.TEAMERT.COM I would try another BOV though before I went out and bought another and found that it was something else like a sticking WG.

Well i put on Matt95tgs's turboXS bov, and it goes into boost much better, but I still have boost fade after 5000+ rpms, goes down to 6 psi...should stay at 8 psi...Hallman is sending a new revised boost controller for free, they are really taking care of me. Thats good
