#29143, "8.5:1 Compression test results, and why do my plugs look like this??"

Well yesterday I thought I would do a compression test just to see what the numbers are at.
This was my first test since the rebuild. I ran it hrad and heated up the eninge, took the number 1 plug out and left the others in and got 200, then I removed all of the plugs at once and did the test and got 195 on the last 3 cylinders.
My question is why the high numbers if I ordered 8.5:1 compression pistons from howell?????????

Also everyone of my plugs looked like the whole tip was rusted. Like the last thread, (where you screw it into the cylinder) the tip, and the little hook thing on the plug, all of that was like a brown rusted color.
What does this mean??

Was your head decked or shaved down at all?

uhhh I believe so, or at least I think they did something like that, just to get it to fit good against the block and HG.
Not sure exactly what all was done, the shop kind of pissed me off, because I was thinking they were doing the work, all they did was take the engine out, and send it somewhere else. Then didn't let me know what all was done, I was just hoping everything I told them to do was done. I know they did some extra stuff,

If they shaved the head down it will raise compression. I wonder how much they took off.

could also be due to carbon buildup. my engine is still stock, before the turbo went in, my compression was ~190 all away across. did a compression check yesterday, and after 10 months of boost, i was at 210 all the way across. lots of carbin build up in the combustion chamber.

as for the plugs, have you used any additives or race fuels?

Crap like octane booster and other stuff gives that orange color to plugs. I find that engines run perfectly well as they were intended....with plain old gas emoji

The rusted "look" is probably just carbon buildup. Do you use anti-seize and put the plugs on tightly? This helps a little.
