#28978, "EGT's and safty"

Jason and I finished installing my kit last weekend. It's running great (HRC Stage1)...boost is amazing. Just curious, without an intercooler my EGT's get up pretty fast especially after 3rd gear. I'm not running the car very hard at all, and I'm not doing any hard 3rd or 4th gear pulls at all. My problem is, if I blow my engine, I will be screwed, as I can not afford a rebuild right now.

Think there a likely chance I will blow my engine at 4psi? I dont run it too hard, I let it cool after every drive, and Im not letting my EGT's get over 1400 ever. I should be alright, right?

Intercooler is coming soon, as well as a new exhaust. Sorry if I sound like a newb, but actually I guess I am as far as the turbo goes. Im probably just being paranoid about blowing..

if you keep egt's under 1400, and do as you are saying, you should be fine, if you get too worried you can always down the boost to 3 psi, when you get your intercooler temps will drop a lot. Hope you enjoy the boost dude, I'll be joining you eventually emoji

gotta question though, how many mile are on her right now?

1400 is fine, and even NA motors on the highway reach this temp. You will make most power around 1550 on the egt gauge. I try and not go over 1600. Some say that 1650 is ok, for very short bursts, but try to keep it no more than 1600. If you get hot really quick, like up to 1600 quick, then you dont have enough fuel. Be sure to tune your fuel pressures. At 5 PSI you need around 80-90 psi of fuel. 90 psi should make you run somewhat rich, most power will most likely come with about 80 psi of fuel. Use a voltmeter or a digital Air/ fuel gauge to see what the o2 voltages are at..aim for .93 in third or fourth gear at WOT. It will be slightly richer in lower gears at WOT, but thats ok.
