#28943, "Top End Rebuild....."

I've been on this board for about 2 1/2 years and I can only think of two people who have built the top ends along with their bottom end. Why is this? Is the top end kit from Howell(turbo grind cams, valves, lifters, lashers, ect..) not worth the money? I know 12's are possible with just a built bottom end, slicks, and injectors...but why do you guys leave the top end stock? The fact the the ECU holds us back on redline have a lot to do with it? I know cams will produce more power past our factory redline. Is this the reason?

I would like to build my top end along with my bottom end when the time comes, just wondering why I haven't/don't see more people rebuilding the top along with the bottom...

The reason I didn't rebuild my top end is this. Howell puts down 500hp with the stock valve train. Why upgrade unless you are going to put down 600hp?

Yeah, what he said. That's my reason too.....well, that and my money tree hasn't been growing very fast.

Our heads are already capable of high horsepower numbers, far more than I plan to surpass. I replaced my valve seals, valve guides, and got a 3 angle valve job when I rebuilt my bottom end, but the valves and springs themselves looked fine. I would have gone for some cams though if I had the money. emoji

You are not your job.
You're not how much money you have in the bank.
You're not the car you drive.
You're not the contents of your wallet.
You're not your fu**ing post count.

Good info. Thanks. I was aware that our stock valve tran was well built I just went retarted for a minute and forgot about that emoji I have been looking at the top end kit for the last couple of days and I was just wondering why more people haven't bought it...oh well, now I know (and knowing is half the battle...G.I. Joe, baby!) emoji
