#28771, "Cracked turbo manifold"

I just noticed a crack on my Star turbo manifold. It runs from the hole where the wastegate bolts up(gas exit, not the bolt holes) and runs about 2" straight back to the #2 exhaust runner. Anyone know if this cast iron can be welded up? and if so what type of results are normally had. I'm imagining this as a plauge that will spread. Weld it up, then another crack starting somewhere off the first...etc.. etc..If it can be welded I would guess that a hole shold be drilled where the crack stops and then the weld should be laid down. Any ideas anyone? TIA

Mine cracked from my egt probe up towards the head(1 inch long). You have to take the manifold off, have it stop drilled, heated up with torch and then welded. This is the only way it will last. It cost me $20 to have this done at a local welding shop.

I've never heard of one of these things cracking.. amazing.

If you bought it from Wyatt, he's pretty good about warrantying these things. Talk to him, you may be able to get it replaced.

Yes, the cracked Star manifold. I went through 3 of them. Wyatt was really good at replacing them for me. If you bought it from him, just let him know and he'll probably just send you a new one if you send him back the bad one. At least that is what he did for me.
