#28725, "315cc or 310cc injector questions...."

I have some 440's and an afc that I was going to put in but I have decided after talking with someone in person about all of his problems with that setup that I may sell the afc and 440's and just put in some 315's or 310's. Just run those until there is a beter way of running bigger injectors with stock ECU......(Greddy E-manage)

first off can I get 315cc or do I get 310cc??

Next how much or about how much MAX boost can I expect from the 315cc's???

Another reason I don't really want to do the 440's and afc is going to be emissions, and it being a PIA to change the injectors out and then back again, along with the afc...

Also What would happen if I installed some 315's and AFC???
Would there be any benifit????

Problems????? DONT SELL THEM!!!!!!!! I am running the ford 42lb (441cc) and the s-afc. And my car had so much power after tuning that it shattered my clutch. My car is running perfect right now. I couldnt ask for a better set up. I love it. I am going to put down some amazing numbers when my clutch is broken in. I am going to dyno it and run it at the track. Hit me up on AIM if you have any questions about it.

And changing the injectors is easy. Once you do it the first time it only takes about 40 minutes to do it. And the s-afc doesnt have to be taken out for emisions.

Yeah I would love to do this too but I was talking to a guy I met last night at HIN and he said he could never get the car to run right, and it was just tearing it down..
His name on here is Blackout I think.
I thought the AFC would set off a CEL.....no???

a super afc would not set off the cel! if wired up correct etc you will have no problems.. also keep your 440cc injectors and super afc since your built, and you will gain alot of power and be able to boost more.. just get your a/f, egt, timing tune right and you should be good for smog..

How much boost can I reach before I max out the 310's??? The reason I'm asking is that I don't wanna get 310's now, then when the situation allows me to run higher boost, I have to get the 440's instead. I see most Stage 3 and up guys have 440's.

My guess would be around 12-13 psi max. But why would you want to almost max out your fuel system. With the 440's you know you have enough fuel for sure. Just get them and you wont be disappointed.

you may want to talk to Joe more about this (th eguy you spoke with at HIN). he knows mor eabotu the situation than most of anybody here has had the displeasure to go through. His luck is worse than mine when it comes to engines. he is going to run about 16 psi on his 310's. I think that is about max for that size injector.

I plan on running 15psi w/ my 315cc injectors. It will be about the same fuel pressure as the HRC stage 2 runs. I hope it works out. That way I don't need an AFC and have to worry about the timing thing w/ it.

Trust me you will want more than 12 psi. Why go through the trouble of building a motor up to handle 600hp and only run 12 psi? Its a waste of money of you ask me. Go for atleast 15 psi. I would be running 18-19 psi daily if I had the MSD. But that will be in the near future.

Yeah I talked to Joe, he said he is running 13psi right now on stock injectors.
He doesn't know why he had so much trouble out of the 440's and SAFC.
But is scares me because 1st the timing thing with the SAFC ( don't want to take that chance)
and then after talking to Joe I am leaning toward the 310's.
a lot less to tune also....

But on the other hand there are so many people here running 15+ psi with the SAFC and 440's and it turns out good.

What should I do????????

Oh yeah so are they 310cc or can you get 315cc also??????
If I decide to get rid of the 440's I want the biggest injector that the ECU can handle..

Armond you said the SAFC WILL set off a CEL????
I figured it would since you cut into the MAP sensor wire.
Just like when I had the VC2 hooked up I go code 14
So I am pretty sure it will.

The ford 42lb injectors are the best deal out there. I got my 4 for $150. Just but the set of eight of them and sell 4 of them. Its the cheapest way to go for the 440's.

you will not get a cel if done right.. i have a super afc and no cel, and i had the hrc mapper and the vc-2 and no cel...315cc should be about the max our ecu could work with, and with that it will have some issues with those size...

I bet he has CEL code 14.
You will get 14 when you splice into the MAP sensor, and that is because of the SAFC.

96venger - If you install the SAFC right, you will not get a CEL. I haven't gotten a CEL from it along with most of the other people on the board. Install it right and you won't have anything to worry about.

Set it up right and you will NOT get a CEL.

I did have a CEL for a while... and the cause was having the sensor type set to 6 instead of 7.
Once I set the IN and OUt back to 7, the CEL cleared....

You see if you use Sensor type 6, then the S-AFC is asuming that your MAP will read over ambient air pressure.... it won't...

Set it to 7 and the max it will think you get is about -60 mm/hg
Tha's before boost comes in to play of course..... emoji

that's crap dude. some cars get an error code when using a powered intercept device on teh map sensor and some don't. jsut because your car doesn't get an error code doesnt' mean that's how all of them work. I was the first guy to try th eafc otu on a 2gnt and if I rememebr correctly, it threw an error code (chris probabyl remembers better than I do. it's his car). I watched joe put his afc in. it got a code immediately. no problem with his instal at all. but then again, I have seen cars run boost and not get a code either (project 002) and I have seen cars that even "thought" abotu going past 0 gauge pressure and immediately get an error code (project 001). it varies from car to car. 96 avenger. you shoudl sell yoru car and buy a honda :-P. just playing with you man.
just try whatever you think will work best and see if you can tune it. if you can't, try the other option. I think yoru car is under the emmissions law where they check to see if you hav ea gas cap, and if you have any error codes (ga. residents only). if you dont' hav eany error codes, you should pass. I know for a fact all 97+ cars don't hav eto take the sniffer test anymore in Ga. might apply to 96 as well. :-D
