#28693, "about the star performance FMIC?"

i talked to Sean at NER about our turbosystems compared to his kit, and he mentioned that the star performance FMIC has a pressure drop of 3psi compared to the one of his kit which he says it it provides very slim like .5~1psi drop. is this a fact? has anyone notice a difference on other brands?

what do you mean a pressure drop. so if you do 5 psi and put in an intercooler its like only have 2 psi of boost.

I don't have a star fmic and never did. i have a top to bottom flow spearco core with the matching endtanks. I only lost a little under a pound when I put it in. I have 2.5" pipimg also. The fmic was only like $500 something from RRE. You may want to consider this as a third option. it works VERY well. It is built like tank as well. It uses bar and polate design, not tube and fin. It also looks different because of the flow direction. People see it and it takes them a minute to realize what it is. Hope this helps you in some way.

ok i'm kinda weirded out on how intercoolers are fabricated...how are the designs differ on spearco compared to the ones the star makes? what causes airflow restriction to an intercooler that causes pressure drop?

Well my star fmic only loses 1psi to pressure drop. I have a 9lb spring in my deltagate and I see 8psi at the mannifold. Pressure drop is caused by the air loosing pressure as it goes through all the piping / intercooler.
