#28266, "Update on FPR/ fuel cut"

Okay I took off my Vortec FPR and disassmbled it. I kinda got the concept on how it works. If you've taken it apart you'll know what I'm talking bout: The fuel section piece has a metal disk with a blue gasket-type diaphram Well that rubber diaphram was torn around the edges where the screws go through...I don't know if that is the problem or not...probably need to replace it. Anyways..here's the wierd part. When I took off the fuel lines(couldn't see where they went to) one had some residual fuel and the other had it gushing out gallons. The one that had fuel spewing out of it was attached to the center of the FPR (straight fitting) labeled 'OUT'-out to the rail. Now I was thinking..maybe I had the lines switched around this whole time. So I switch it around and hope that this will solve the fuel dilema. DId some runs and still the same thing..at WOT it'll just sit there and REd Lean. The only time i'd actually feel fast was at 1/2 throttle: 3rd gear at 2.5k..it goes lean then around 4k goes rich all the way to redline. Any help please?

What fuel lines go to what?...Which line connects to the 'L' Brass Fitting and to the straight Fitting. Thanks

Well I did a little research and ffound out how the Vortech FMU works. The boost pushes a sort of diapram that pushes on a little restrictor plate which blocks the of the fuel return line. This raises the pressure in the fuel rail. The less flow (gas) that goes back into the tank the more gets pumped into the injectors. The more boost you build the more the restrictor plate blocks the flow = increased fuel psi. Now I gota get a fuel gauge and do s couple runs to see if the FMU is working. What is our idle fuel psi?

i had similar fuel cuts, turns out the cylender inside my cartech fpr was stuck in the closed position (closing the return line, causing "full" pressure on the rail). i unstuck it and it's worked OK ever since. it's still finiky, like when i turn it on in the morning it takes a little while to find it's idle (the engine revs itself for a few seconds until it settles down at 1k) ... our idle fuel pressure is about 45psi.
