#27558, "I think something is wrong here....."

I think that there is something seriously wrong with my car. I have a star performance stage 2 turbo and forged internals running 13psi and the fastest time I got out at the track tonight was a 15.03. I think that I'm a pretty good driver and know what I'm doing but for some reason it is running crazy slow. The only thing that I know of that I did wrong was get a .7 reaction time off the tree. We think that my ECU is going bad, so could that possibly be what is making my times so slow? At the end of 3rd gear my EGT's are at 1400 degrees. Could I be running a little rich still or is that a good EGT to be at? I am really getting desperate for any way to get my car to run they way I think that it should be. I am extremely mad that the fastest time I got was a 15.03. Please help!!!

Reaction times have absolutely nothing to do with your ET. What is your 60' times? What is your MPH at the end of the 1.4 mi? 1400F is plenty rich. 1600-1650F is a nice range to go thru the traps.

depends if his car is running/tuned right if he has a sound system etc... i see u got only 315cc injectors those should be cool but im not so sure about doing 13psi of boost, is your super afc leaned out/ tuned on a dyno or? what kind of fpr do you got? if your running to rich which you are you need to lean it out a bit more ( get it tuned on a dyno) and drop any extra weight (sound system) when going to the track... check your compression to make sure its all good...

Is the EGT gauge in the manifold or Downpipe? 1400 is the temp mine is while cruising. If it is in the manifold then you are probably very rich.

I cross the line at about 1450 on the EGT gauge, of course I'm almost done fourth gear at the end though emoji When I raise the boost to 15psi, I might be having to get into 5th gear! I think your EGT's are fine, do you have a stereo in the back? I can't make any judgements yet until I see that 60' time....

My 60' on my fastest pass was a 2.3134. I removed all my stereo crap out of the back of my car and didn't have any body ride with me. Last night was the first time that I have ever ran my car with the turbo. My compression should be fine because I had my motor rebuilt a few months ago and have put 4000 miles on it and last night was the first night that I had really gotten on it. I am having problems with my ECU and every time that I would race it, my power steering belt would fly off so I finally just left it off and ran without it. I'm sure that I am still very rich by how low my EGT's are. I have my AFC set to -12% on high throttle right now. I'm sure that I could go quite a bit lower on the correction. I would have already had it dyno tuned but I don't believe that there is a dyno anywhere around where I live.

Jon - We were just standing around feeling kind of stupid so some of us left and went to my house and hung out until it cooled off some. I came back for the street heat. It was pretty fun but I'm running too slow for some reason.

420Avenger - My EGT probe is in my manifold.

Ah, i left right after that. Decided to go home because I was tired and so burnt i couldn't move my face emoji

Your wheels helped your traction.

Looked over things today and noticed i'm missing a downpipe bolt and one of them (the bitch to get to) is half-off. There's no way in hell I can get that bolt tightened. this sucks.

a friend of mine has a neon with a hrc stage 2 + lots of mods pushing around 350 at the wheels, he had the same downpipe problem, he said he figured out a way to get a air gun in there, so find a air gun and toy around until you finally get it in there

I think it's impossible because the nut is actually touching the downpipe itself. In order to put the thing on to begin with, we had to put the downpipe partially on and tighten the bolt as we go. The dumbfuck mechanics who made my downpipe rounded it so i should probably just take it all off and replace the nut when i buy another one. Wonder if home depot would carry those nuts.

On my second run I threw my PS/AC belt and blew a vacuum line off my FPR so I had to shut it down. I'm using the FPR that came with the star kit and then 315cc injectors with my AFC set to -12% correction. Does anyone know how low I should approximately have my AFC set on the high throttle setting?

dude, best bet is to throw it on a dyno to get max power etc for your car so you dont have to rebuild again. if you or someone has a datalogger use it and try to tune it a bit better if your doing it by looking now.. hmmm if your in so cal i could let u use my ob2 program but i dont think you are..

I would be more than happy to throw it on a dyno but there isn't one around here that I know of. I'm in Kansas by the way. At WOT my air/fuel gauge (modified autometer a/f gauge) is reading .97v and my EGT's are at 1400F by the end of the quarter mile at the beginning of 4th gear. This just means that I am still very rich, correct? I have to make an appointment at satan to get my belt problem fixed and then have them check my ECU because I am pretty sure that it is bad. Then I am going to try to get my car tuned better by a shop that my friend recommended. I was just trying to see if still needed to lean out my fuel because according to my gauges, I'm still running very rich.

What part of Kansas? If your in the KC Metro Area you can go to MC Racing in Merriam KS. It is the only place I know of in KC that has a dyno. Give them a shot. Later

Jason,
S&S Dyno Shop in Wichita, it's the only dyno around and they don't know a damn thing about anything. You can go there, and tell them you're tuning.

1400 on the egt and .97v on your a/f gauge is rich. you can lean it down a bit more.. i would get a pocketlogger ( for a palm) or a ob2 program for a labtop and check your fuel setup short and long term fuel to make sure you are in the ball park. also check how much its advancing at WOT to see if thats cool also... you dont need to be a smart guy to use these programs to tune your car just alot of asking question etc...

Yeah, I have a feeling that my ECU problems are really screwing with my timing. I'm having it all checked out next Monday.
