this is for those of you with external wastegates of course...has anyone had the dumptube welded to the downpipe? i saw hadesomega's and he has a pipe running down the whole downpipe and then it cuts into the pipe at the end. why not just tap into the downpipe up a lot higher so there is less piping? i dont want my car to sound like shit anymore, i hate that noise it makes, it sounds like my car is broken. so what do u do about the dump tube?

Wedl it back in... you will like it MUCH better that way. and Hades(along with mine) are ran back into the downpipe further down to make the curve the gas takes in entering back in smoother. that, and there isnt a whole lot of room to come straight over from the wastegate to the downpipe. welded mine with it still on the car actually.

That's MY DP you're thinking of emoji

I did it because the external sounds like asshole. The muffler shop ran it the way they did because there isn't enough space there to cut the pipe and weld a section into it with the external and DP on the car - it was easier for them, and it creates less turbulence in the exhaust stream overall having it routed in farther down the pipe.

According to Maximum Boost the further along (away from the turbine) its plumped back in the better it is for performance as well

Your set up is tight, not knocking it at all. Just giving one answer to his Q. I doubt it makes a bunch of difference if any. I just left mine illegal the way star intended.

thx and yeh, no worries. i actually wanted an open dump tube but thats how my 'kit' left the shop so ohwell. i was driving w/ my friend in his teg and when his wastgate opened DAMN was it loud. on second thought maybe not, it attracts a bunch of attention. last thing i need now are more tickets...yeah, either way works fine - i change my mind every 5 mins if you haven't noticed

I dont' mind the sound that much it sounds pretty badass. But man it gets stinky sometimes like when your trying to climb a steep hill and your boosting hard it fills the car with nasty funk.

erm well Kory told me 18 inches away from the turbine is good. Something about preventing reverberation (echoeing). I've seen a turbo focus setup that has a delta gate plumbed like mitseclips setup. That looks very clean. That's what I originally wanted to do but I had to get all fancy and shit. Getting that dump tube welded is a bitch you gotta measure stuff to make sure it fits. I didn't even get it right on teh first try, I had to drive to a muffler shop without front motor mount on and the crossmember just hangin so I could get the dang pipe in. The way that stupid pipe is angled on the deltagate sux too. My car just becomes harder and harder to work on emoji If you wanna get rid of the smell get some flexible pipe and vent it to the side or under, but for the sound yeh you gotta weld it in. It doesn't sound all that much different. Haha you'll still hear it just not as RAW hehe... one things for sure you hear the BOV more emoji Taking off that downpipe and manifold is no easy cake too....

oh yeah in this picture that dump pipe does not clear the cross member it runs into it hehe.
