Check this out guys, I got another minor problem on my hands. Yesterday I was taking Dave(DSBLK93GT) for a ride and as I was blasting through the gears, once I shifted into 4th the car shut off again...or so I thought. Right when I shifted into fourth, my speedo and tach went straight down to zero and my car wasn't accelerating, I thought it shut off--wrong! I turned my stereo down only to her my car revving down! I gave it gas and nothing happened. My boost gauge would come out of vacuum and everything was working(radio, power steering, etc...) The only things not working were my speedo/tach and my freakin' gas pedal! As I slowed down, once I got to about 5-10mph it finally shut off. She started right back up and has been fine since. What the hell is going on here?! What would cause my speedo/tach to stop working and my gas pedal? When I pressed the gas, nothing happened to the motor. As it was deccelerating, it didn't bog or anything when I touched the gas, it was like the car was shut off. The only thing that would happen when I hit the gas was the boost gauge would come out of vacuum. Dave and I are blown right away with this, we need your help once again! I can't have this monster do this to me when I'm going down the track next time. I'm gonna get a LOW 13sec run off next time, I'm fully confident on that. It just needs to run right, thats all emoji Thanks guys....

I just went through a similar problem, only difference was that mine wouldn't start back up. My problem was that I had a wire get melted all the way through the insulation by my block on the driver side. You might go looking for something similar.

Check the tube that goes from the EGR to the intake manifold. It has been know to melt wires.

what ever you do......do not go to the dealers. They'll want 1400 to replace wiring. One or some of your wires might have meltedm I know cause mine did. Also check wiring to your alternatorm, mine melted competely off. And that damn copper egr tube, just make sure no wires make contact with it because it has happened to alot of us lately.

I was thinking some electrical short as well. But what would short out that would leave my engine running!? I already had a short before that was killing my motor while driving. But now it doesn't shut off, my gas pedal/speedo/tach doesn't work! I eventually shuts off once I'm almost stopped, I can even downshift to help slow myself down! I am so confused here, I'm starting to think my ECU is shitting the bed. Thanks for the help though guys....

If the car is in gear, the revs won't just fall off when the engine dies. next time that happens, push in the clutch and i guarantee you the engine will die on the spot.
