Like Matt mentioned, white smoke usually means the coolant burning. It's possible that the head headgasket might be leaking somewhere.

You should make sure that your coolent isn't mixing in with your oil. This happens sometimes when the head gasket goes out and you should not run the car if this happens. Another way to tell if it is your head gasket that went out is to start the car and let it idle while you pull the dipstick out. If there are little puffs of air coming out then that is more evidence that it is indeed your head gasket. If it were me personally, I would run the car without boosting as much as possible until you rebuild as long as you are rebu8ilding fairly soon (3 months). Just keep checking to see if coolant is mixing with your oil and if it is, then do not keep running it.

hey guys thanks for the info well graldy i believe is not the head gasket. Reason being is, I just went out for lunk turned on the car and no smoke was coming out of the back and no water eighter i guess it was humidity, also while it was off i open the radiator cap and no oil in there and the dipstick took it out and no bubbles.

So at this point what ?? does it narrow to the turbo ??

Some guy there from school did tell me that it could be somethign with the external waistgate if its not connected rigth that when i let off gas and the trottle plate closes the vacum so high that will make the oil rise from the botoom of the block and burn the oil. Is this somewhat true?

Because i noticed the car smoking was after i put downpipe and taht was when i installed the external waistgate but not yet had installed the boost line to the upper pipe. I did that yesturday but is still smoking

Last questions sorry about all the questions

My vac varies a lot some times 18 some times 20 or 25, is this ok or not is this a sign of a healty engine??

thanks

You might check all your vacuum connections for any leaks. The vacuum shouldn't vary too much, especially at lower speed driving. It should be between 16-22 in Hg. If any accessory is on, it will be around 17-18 in Hg. Sometimes, you'll see 20-23 in Hg when you're cruising after a high speed run on the freeway.

If you were burning oil, it would burn off a blue smoke. What time of day did you noticed the white smoke coming from your exhaust? If the air is cool, i.e., in the morning or later at night, a cold engine will give off that whitish smoke--from the moisture in the exhaust.

ummmmm ok cool cool i see i did not know that, but yes some times when its cold but mostly if i step on it you knwo i have not been doing nothign on it or boosting because fuel not done yet. So i have been taking it easy and not boosting but vac is very low so i don't know if that is good or not so then the white smoke what is it just recidue of water th at was in the ehaust. Now also it happens when i go to to high rpm and brake and its like a cloud of smoke that comes out and also some times then i stop i start smoking it is sporadic.

Dude I think your HG is gone. I just replaced mine and it had the same symptoms. White smoke coming out periodicly usually when I get on it. You need to get under the car and look on your tranny case to see if there is oil on it. Right there where it looks like there is a seam on the tranny is where it "usually" leakes. There wasn't any oil in my coolant for sometime but it was still leaking and eventually it started puting oil in the coolant (I think my HG failed in a couple of places due to it going on for so long). Do a compression test and see where your at. And check for leakes they are usually at the back left hand corner of the head hence the leaking onto the tranny. There is a bolt back there that is to long and bottoms out before the proper amount of TQ. is used to seal the head. but trust me those are the symptoms do some heavy reaserch into the issue.

ok dude here is the deal check the tranny and I think you will see oil. secondly if it was your turbo leaking from the seals you would have oil leaking from the BOV or the intake. As for the water in your exaust that's just condensation it is normal... what size pipes do u run? also do the compression test that will tell u for sure what's going on.

The symtoms here are to general for anybody to tell you. Is the car smoking all of the time? As far as a cracked head? or head gasket? start the car and open the radiator cap as soon as you start it. Make sur eyour thermostat opens and watch for bubbles if it is a head gasket or cracke d head you will see it there. What does it smell like? If it smells like oil you probably have a thrust bearing spitting by on you. Please explain a little more. If it smokes all the time you might have ring problems or seals gone on the valves. let us know and we'll posting. late mike

ohhhh ok here when i turned on the car no it does not smoke sometimes it may but not usually and raelly light. Now i checked the termostat like you told me and i cold not see nothign runnig tew it the water was jsut stuck there it was not running trough. Now could my thermostat be bad. My water is going down dramastically i ahd it full 2 days ago and now its low. Like i said before someone told me that the white smoke is coming because the throttle body is closed and the turbo still spinning so there is too much vac and the VAC so it raises the ail on the engine and makes it smoke. Could this be it?? he said could be a result of the external waist gate not working properly or not connected properly. I am able to hear the external waste gate. It mostly smoke eighter when i floor it and let go and slow down really fast but if i am crusing and boosting lets say 1 psi or so no happen even when i am not boosting it does not happen.

Copuld it be that the turbo is still trying to put the air in the engine when i am braking sice its such a big turbo and that is what causes the white smoke and why.

The reason becuase i was going 30 and if i let the gas go and brake really fast it happen but i mean like a big cloud comes out like a pufff bubble.

oh and by the way i am runing 2.5 mendrel bent from turbo to right after the catalitic where the sensor is and from there i got 2.5 press bent.
thanks for all the help guys

I still think your overlooking the problem here. That oil crap your friend told you is not true. When your in vac it means your engine is running as if stock. So it's supposed to go into vac. Plus if it was oil it would usually have a blue tint to it. Check your compression or you may end up hurting your head by ignoring a blown HG. I doubt it's oil and it sure doesn't sound like water.

Compression wise, you should see at the very minimum 150 across. You should see 180-200 and hopefully the variation between cylinders is less than 7 er so. Don't take this the wrong way, but in my opinion, you really should just take your car to someone who really knows what they are doing and just have them do the work. It sounds to me like you really aren't experienced enough yet to deal with these type of problems. Good luck.

did you get that compression test done? what are the numbers?
White smoke is not oil, is coolant check your oil and see if any coolant has mixed with it. if so you have a leaky gasket, GET IT FIXED.

Ive got the same problem with my car its either a small crack in your turbo by the shaft housing or your bearings/thrust bearing is leaking oil by. Its not a sever problem but its not going to just go away in fact it is going to get worse. Its got to the point with me that when i am in the middle of the intersection,i will just be sitting there and a huge james bond like cloud will come out. Esimated cost of repair for me is somewhere in the 300 range. Late mike
