#26295, "NEED you guys opinions/advice on this."

hey guys. i have a question for ya. a friend of mine has a star stage 2 on his 97 eclipse. he has the VC1 FCD the kit came with, and originally had the power wire ran to a fuse. one day, it finally blew the fuse, causing the FCD to stop functioning. i placed a bigger fuse in, and advised him to come back later to move the power directly to the battery like it should be. before we had the chance to move it to the battery, he noticed that during boost, intermitently, he would hit a "fuel/boost" cut of sorts. it wasnt as severe as when a car hits fuel cut cause the FCD isnt functioning at all, but acted more as a mis-fire of sorts. the car would loose power and bog a little while boosting, then the car would appear to regain its composure all the way to redline. i suspected the VC1, so i moved the power directly to the battery. still same thing. so, we replaced the VC1 with a Missing Link unit. the problem isnt near as prevelant now, but it still does it. mostly in 3rd gear, if the gas is mashed hard. roll on it slowly, and it doesnt seem to do it. it pulls all the way to redline. whats weird, is it doesnt do it all the time. sometimes it will pull 7psi all the way through 2nd and 3rd gears with no glitches. i am going to check the MAP voltage tomorrow when the glitch occurs. i will also try to close up the sprak plug gap to see if that helps. he has the accel 30lb injectors, SAFC, and 8:1 disk in the vortech FMU. he ran the car with the 30lb. injectors with no AFC for close to 2 months without this problem, and with the SAFC for about 3 weeks, with no problems, but when that fuse blew, is when the problem seemed to surface. could the MAP have possibly been damaged? and not be doing its job correctly for a split second, causing the apparent fuel cut/misfire? thanks for any opinions or light you can shed on this. he is pretty down about it, as expected. i just wanna help him trouble shoot this.

Does he have a boost controller? I have a homemade ball and spring one. I had the EXACT same thing and no one could figure it out. So I had the boost controller off to see if the boost curve would change any and it stopped doing the boost cut thing. I hope that's what it is :/
