Hey, the tranny guy I took it to disassembled it and he said I need a new case too, not the bellhousing, just the case, cause he pointed to some clips or something in the bottom of the empty case and he said when you disassemble it, they break or something and he cant reuse it, does that sound right? I dont think this guy is a ripoff, if anything maby he just doesnt know as much as he thinks he does, he's been in business before i was born so I dunno...

if he broke it, it's because he did somethign wrong. I've seen these trannies come apart many times now, and never once has there been anything break unless the guy did something dumb, like try to press the output shaft out of the case without machining down the mushroomed end of it.

Go up there, have him point to exactly what is broken, and take a picture. Then i can tell you whether or not he's right and why. Either way, it's probably his fault.

Damn him, I guess it was probably him being a moron, haha. I guess I will just buy a SOHC neon tranny, put my bellhousing on it with my diff in it and be done with it... I am tired of these parts and all of it... How will i need to set up end play for the diff and
mainshaft with the neon tranny?

Update: I located a SOHC neon tranny for $350 bucks, went to pick it up, stopped at another salvage yard along the way, and found one out of a 97 with low miles, only problem was the bellhousing was cracked around a bolt hole pretty bad, I pointed it out to him and he said he would just throw that tranny in the core only section for now and get me another one on by monday, whenever they could pull another one from a car. I don't need the bellhousing anyways, and everything else looks great so I bought the tranny for $100 bucks, 90 day warrenty, hell yeah, I was just gonna have that bellhousing sitting in my garage for all eternity anyways, if it works, it'll kick ass.
