I think if I were to gdo it again, and I still may, I would just get a dual turboXS manual boost controller. If you want a two stage controller get the turboXS electroni cone. I have the Profec A and am not that impressed by it. It is REALLY sensative to intake leaks, and intake leaks lead to boost spikes (with the profec A) I had the Profec 'B' before and was happier with that simply because I didn't have to program it every time I changed something.
I've taken out my Cruise control since and am working to change the "Cruise" text on the button left of the steering wheel to read "O.T.B" for Over Take boost. One click of this and It sets my Profec (or TurboXS) to the higher boost setting.
I have Greddy profic A, and it's nothing but pain. I am now using a ball and spring MBC, and I love the boost respond, and the fast spool up. Profic B or what like what Wyatt said get the 2 stages MBC is the way to go.

Isn't the Profec-B only good to 17psi???? BTW I heard that it also spikes quite a bit.
Do you want a Dual Manual Boost Controller with An electric solenoid switch???
Then check out DEJON tool and design, this is quality manual boost controllers designed by a fellow DSMer. I have this setup and it works just fine. It is also one of the only MBCs that is hand adjustable and lockable - all other require wrenches and stuff.
If you wanna go one step forward, he has a mechanical system that changes boost by gear shifts...Although this would probably need some customizing by us on our tranny setup, it could be done though.
This guy, Dave Johnson, is actually quite a parts-maker/inventor, he also make a special "rear lift kit" for our cars. I actually saw this setup on his car at the DSM shootout last year.
Basically, you flip a switch inside your car, and it jacks up your back end by 2 inches and holds it there ROCK HARD until you don't need it any more.
How he has achieved this is by adding an air cylinder beside each rear shock. Please note that it does NOT replace your rear suspension.
While de-activated they are completely unnoticeable and just sit there while your car rides on its suspension as usual (it will work just as fine on a lowered car or with performance shocks).
Why would you need something like this?? Ever heard about Weight distribution & traction while racing? Noticed the "raked" look on HRC's RS?
I am not affiliated with Dave in any way, its just that I have seen his products (and have some of them) and since I believe that they are quality products, you guys should know about them too.

13.9sec @ 105mph passes w/ Blown piston rings, on Stock Internals at 10psi Boost....
I have a Profec B and it's nice, Nothing really to prgram, just turn it up or down, Maybe that's why my car went boom huh?? It will go past 17psi, I think HRC uses it and they run 30 psi no??
The Profec B will go higher than 17psi. I'm not looking for something as complex as the Apexi unit. So far I've narrowed it down to the Profec B with remote button, HKS EVC EZ or Blitz Dual SBC (which I'm leaning towards but for the still reasonable but higher price). I would go with a manual but for two reasons. One only one I know of can activate high boost from the cockpit (and its less than $100 cheaper than the cheap electronic ones) and I've heard they dont always acheive max boost in every gear. For example once set they may hit 12psi in 2nd 14psi in 3rd and 15psi in 5th. Call me crazy but I want my boost controller, turbo timer and BOV from the same company further complicating things.
I have a Profec B - have had it since I got the turbo. It will go past 17psi first of all. Silly idea. It works fine for me. It is hard to compare since I have only had the one boost controller. you are samrt in keeping it simple. If I may, the advantages of an electronic boost controller
-I can adjust the boost in the car as I go -it does not freak out everytime the weather changes -it does not spike all the time like said before -I can set up low boost for launching, hit a button on the steering wheel, and then hit high boost all in the matter of seconds -you can fine tune it much easier imo than a manual controller
And disadvantages of having an Electronic Boost control
It's right there so you may be Boost happy More Expensive Depending on which you get can be complicated It's right there so you may get Boost Happy......................................

I have self control and upgraded internals (but wont have any surplus fuel for a while). The low feature electronic ones seem simple enough to operate. RRE has the Profec B on special for $300. The HKS EZ has an advanced stepping motor (same one as the EVC IV) as opposed to solinoids but its too damn simple. All it has is an on/off switch and a volume control. No high or low boost setting so Profec B it is.
