#25830, "Race prep I need help (stage 4-5 guys) QUICK!"

Hey,

I am racing on Sunday in one of the IDRC races. (Last minute decision) I need to up the boost to around 23-25ish. I am going to put in 104 octane and do some more welding of my IC piping tomorrow.

I need to know if you guys are just upping the boost on the HRC fuel map or if you are writing a new one for 104 octane and high boost?

I (might) be able to data log it before the runs but I don’t know how long everything is going to take. I need to know what advance in timing is BAD? (# of deg.) I get 22 deg. advance at 16psi and that seems to be ok. I am also running pig rich at 1.02-1.04v a/f, so I have room to run in the fuel area.

I just need to know what you would do in my case. I need to run at least 23-24psi on 104 octane to be qualifying. I know very well how to watch my gauges and watch the ECU for timing advance.

HELP
HELP
HELP please, and quick. I want to show some 4g guys up or at least put one or two of them out of the street quick 8.

Oh and one other problem I am seeing at the track is a LARGE weight transfer on the line. All my cars weight goes to the back and I get a tone of wheel spin and hop. It is to late for me to order new adjustable shocks for the back. Any ideas how to get around this problem?

TIA

You could try to shim the rear springs somehow, get the rear end up higher..

As far as the advance goes.. at WOT, 14* is about as low as it will go. The ECu can't pull back more than that at WOT as far as i've seen. 22 is good.. try to keep it there.

I believe there's a different fuel map if you want to run 20-25 psi boost. However, as rich as the fuel map is at 15 psi, I don't think there would be any problem running 20 psi with it. I tried running about 17 psi with the same fuel map, and I'm still running very rich. I haven't got a chance to really get my car on the dyno to fine tune my car yet, so I don't know if there's any knock or whatever. HRC recommends race gas when running around 20 psi (to reduce detonation/knock).

Go to pepboys or similar and get some spring blocks.. they kinda twist into the space between the coils on the springs.. I know they sell em at canadian tire.. but your proabably a LONG way from one of those.. Put one on each spring in the rear.. not in the front.. should help your weight transfer problem..

In reference to the fuel map, I spoke with HRC today and they said we could use the same fuel map when running higher boost. We just have to trim here and there. I guess that means that it will work, but I also believe it still has to be dyno tuned for the "best" fuel map for that particular "race day" high boost.
