#25439, "OMG. My car is so slow."

I blew an IC pipe off on the way home. This dude in a focus pulled up next to me, smiled and shrugged, and started to pull up. I threw it in third and stomped on it. When i hit max boost, i heard a loud POPSSSSHHHSHSHSHHHHHHHHHHHHH and i let off..

OMG. I have never felt my car so slow in it's life. This is just nuts. Whatever pipe it was, it blew BAD - i'm barely getting to 0 in.hg, last time i could still get around 1-2psi.. hehe

I also burnt the everlivin shit outta my hand looking for it, too. Ouch.

I think i either split the rubber elbow at the turbo, blew off the UIP/IC joint, or my turbo is totally fooked. Let's hope it's the pipe emoji

prop just a hose coupler that blew off..Haha, i should take a pic of my rubber pvc pipe coupler that melted at the clamp...I knew something was up when i could only get like 2 psi...Now i got a radiator hose that fit, and cut it into couplers, and it works awsome emoji Ofcourse, it had to be during a focus race with ya...oh well

haha I know how you feel man. Two weeks ago on my way to my unit my piping popped out, that's like the third different place in the piping it popped out. Haha that's what I get for using ghetto junkyard piping. Anyway man I had to drive up and down hills without boost and it suck a lot. Haha my EGTs actually went higher than with boost. It was slow as shit.

my friend took me for a spin in his gs-t spyder and that happened. I was loving it until we got about a mile from where my car was, then popshhhhhhhh. And then it just hissed on revs. Pulled over, he looked all over. Finally, I noticed the Lower ic pipe had popped off. We didn't have anything in his car to tighten it, so he drove it back, then we got my screwdriver/ratchet tool out and fixed her up and went back out. Rule #1 for having turbo- have extra hose clamps and a screw driver set at all times!

I used to have this problem alot too. I just used a friend's TIG welder and welded beads arounds all the piping ends. To the extent, even, that I had to work the piping to get it to slide back into the hosings...no more IC pipes blowing off.
Doesn't it always figure to happen when you are racing someone too and not just out on your own on a hard pull.

i was actually wondering about this the other day, i want to see how much slower my car was without the turbo just to reassure myself. so is it safe for me to disconnect the turbo to TB pipe and run it NA without altering fuel settings or anything (im assuming since its a boost dependent regulator it will just not pupm right?)

I forgot to tighten up a hose off the turbo after a rebuild once and it blew off within the first minute and just about gave me a heart attack.

Well, all the couplers were fine. It was the elbow - i split the sucker wide open. Had like a 4" hole in it.

I used a piece of radiator hose of the same ID that had a 90* bend in it. Should hold a lot better than the silicone elbow did.
